A traditional Victorian pickle mentioned by Dickens, perfect as an accompaniment or as ingredient. Just imagine home made meat pies with port and walnuts or a potato, mushroom and walnut salad. A family business since 1880

Opie’s Pickled Walnuts
These are a scrumptious British treat. They have to best pickling brine I’ve ever tasted. Sliced, chopped or whole they add so much flavor to any charcuterie board or relish tray. Wonderful product. Great purchase

Who knew?
I ordered this because it sounded interesting, and is not a walnut as we know them in the US, but is quite the sour treat. More like a tender pickle. Would be a great addition to a relish tray.

Surprisingly Delicious
This was my first time having pickled walnuts. They are surprisingly delicious. I will order them again.

Look it up on the web than try it.
Bought for use in a sauce. This company seems to be about the only maker whose product makes it to American shores. One enjoyable peculiarity is that the product has an undertone of roses in the scent. It gave the sauce a nice complexity.

Pretty Good
Got these to try out of curiosity. Wasn't expecting them to be pickled shell and all so that was a cool surprise. The whole walnuts soften up in the brine so you can just eat the whole thing including the shell. I guess the pickling brine breaks down the tannins so you don't get that weird cottonmouth feeling or anything. Taste was nothing that far out of the ordinary, just tastes like a super vinegary pickling brine spiced with a small hit of the same kinds of spices you get in Worcestershire sauce. The walnuts don't really have a strong flavor to them, you're mostly getting punched in the face with that strong brine. Worth trying for yourself, maybe have them with a soft ripened cheese and bread to mellow everything out a bit.

Quality issues
Bought two jars are stocking stuffers for the family foodies. One jar had a broken seal upon arrival. The lid just didn’t close properly but would just continue to rotate, popping open at the faulty thread point. Of the two jars only the one with the functional lid had an expiry date. The seller does not accept returns. I reached out to Amazon about the unsealed jar and they refunded me but I just didn’t have any confidence in the products by that point and ended up tossing both jars. Thankfully it was packaged well so the leaked contents didn’t permeate the rest of the items in the shipment.
