Yes, it will last a long time with hand washing soap/water, as long as you don't run it through a very high temp wash machine or autoclave.

Idk that it’s gonna to read a temp on the outside of an insulated mug. I don’t believe it would. You could always put it on the inside.

Theoretically. It does seem to bend enough.

Is it safe to expose to temperatures above or below range? Will it destroy them?

Yes, as long as it is not excessively high, or low. I have exposed mine to 180F with no issues.
