Each plug socket on the extension has its own switch so you can switch power on/off for individual items. Comes in really handy wuth things like phone chargers, lamps etc which you don't need to be powered up all the time,only when you need them. Great safety feature along with the green surge protector light. Cable is of decent thickness not a flimsy little wire

I wanted a mains four ( 4 ) gang socket on a wall in the home where I didn't have one. When the place was rewired, I could have chosen to have mains plug sockets everywhere ( at a cost of course ), but really didn't think I'd need more.As time has gone by, I needed to have mains plug sockets on a wall in the home where there weren't any ! Not wanting to go through the rigmarole of chasing a wall to fit a mains cable conduit to wall socket power outlets, I decided to buy this four gang mains extension lead and do it via mini-trunking to where I wanted it attached to a wall.A surge protected electrical four gang socket extension lead like this one, will not allow a surge of electricity, or 'transient', to travel through it. It will have a mechanism or fuse that will disconnect the surge running through it before the surge of electricity can get to devices plugged into the sockets, and most likely damage them.( A 'surge', or 'transient' is an excess of voltage that can briefly travel through your electrical cabling in a home, or office, or workplace etc., that could damage electrical devices attached to the electrical service in a home, office, etc. A surge of power, or 'transient', is relatively rare. )I think surge protection is a very good idea for protecting my plugged-in devices to this extension lead, which is one of the reasons I chose this.Disclaimer: If you are not experienced in electrical wiring, DON'T !
