Can I use 2 x 2-seater supports on a 4 seater

I would think that would work ok - I haven't done that tho - I have 2 separate 2 seater sofas and the boards have made a big difference to the reinforcement of the seats

No. Each section is a hard plastic slat so it couldn’t be cut.
