Quality leather, well made, strong
Very nice leather leash. Soft from the start, color does not rub or fade, strong, nice brass snap. I was using nylon and biothane leash. My trainer suggested trying leather. I was hesitant as I have a strong puller and was afraid of breakage. I am confident this leather leash is strong enough to hold back my dog. The braid (vs sewn or rivit) makes me feel more secure about strength. It is one of the few leather leashes that is over 6' long too. The extra length is nice. Leash comes nicely wrapped in a box. Leash does not get sticky or stiff and I have used it for several months. I have bridles that leather is over 20 years old. This leash should last for a long, long time given routine leather care.

"Guiding Star Leather Dog Leash: A Sturdy Steal with a Stiff Start"
Recently i bought a Guiding Star Leather Dog Leash (6ft x 3/4 inch) in black, after using it for a few weeks with my energetic 60-pound Labrador. Overall, I’ve got mixed feelings, but I’m leaning more towards the positive side. At a price significantly lower than many premium leather leashes, it was an absolute steal. If you’re looking for an affordable leash that doesn’t immediately scream “cheap,” this one offers a lot of value for the price. The handmade braided design and promise of durability for larger dogs really caught my eye, and I was eager to give it a try.Let’s start with the positives. The leash looks fantastic—sleek, sturdy, and stylish with its black leather finish. The braided detailing near the tip is a nice touch; it’s not just visually appealing but feels thoughtfully crafted, too. My Lab pulls hard on walks, and I’m impressed by how well this leash has held up. No fraying or signs of wear, even after muddy adventures and a few tug-of-war sessions with low-hanging branches. At 6 feet long and 3/4 inch wide, it’s the perfect size for controlling a large dog without feeling too bulky. The heavy-duty construction gives me confidence it’ll last for years, which is even more impressive given the price. In terms of functionality, it performs really well. The 6-foot length offers just enough slack for my dog to explore, while still keeping him under control—great for both training and casual walks. The clip is strong and attaches to his collar easily, never once slipping loose. The thickness of the leash, at 3/4 inch, feels solid in hand and reassuring, especially with a strong puller like my Lab. It’s not too thin, so it doesn’t dig into your skin the way some nylon leashes can, but it’s also not too thick, making it just right for medium to large breeds. That said, the stiffness of the leather does affect its functionality. It doesn’t bend easily, which makes it a bit difficult to coil up or stuff into a pocket when not in use. Also, the rigidity can feel awkward during quick maneuvers. Now, the downside: this leash is stiff. Really stiff. I knew leather would need some time to soften, but even after a week, it felt like holding a solid plank. The edges dug into my palms, leaving them sore after just 20 minutes of walking. For a “soft braided handmade” leash, it’s not soft at all—at least not yet. I’ve started wearing gloves for longer walks, which helps, but it’s definitely a hassle I wasn’t expecting. All in all, I’m more positive than negative. The durability, thickness, and affordability far outweigh the discomfort, and I’m hopeful it’ll soften with time. If you don’t mind a bit of a break-in period and have tough hands, this leash is a solid option. The braided tip and rugged build make it a keeper for me, but just know that comfort won’t come right away.
