Compulsive viewing
Engaging family viewing without any of the sentimentality that too often accompanies such fare. With vibrant, realistically drawn characters, it is beautifully acted and with an excellent script. I'll be watching it again. And possibly again.

Superb
As I have not read Anne Of Green Gables I am at an advantage because I am not encumbered by thoughts of how accurately this series follows the book. As it states at the beginning of every episode, this drama is "based on" the original story which, of course, allows the writers to develop the story. Besides, there are several series and films of Anne available so, if you want to watch something which slavishly sticks to the plot, go and check them out. What really matters is that this is an enchanting and wonderful series showing, through an astonishingly impressive performance by Amybeth McNulty, one girl's navigation through a world which can be cruel, racist, homophobic, judgemental and ageist. Anne makes mistakes, can be insensitive and her accident-prone behaviour is a constant challenge to her adoptive parents. She does, however, never lose sight of her dreams. It is moving, poignant and inspiring and, quite simply, the best drama series I have watched in many years.

Modern retelling of classic stories
Great acting but some straying from the iriginal stories at times!

Superb adaptation of Lucy Montgomery's classic
Whilst the series is based on Lucy Montgomery's "Anne of Green Gables " books there are some modern inclusions/adaptations. I believe most of these add to the story and do not in anyway spoil it. Anne is wonderfully played by Amybeth McNulty who brings the character so much to life with all her ups and downs of life. Hope to see more of her in the future.
