Don't know why I waited so long to buy it...
Do you need it? You probably don't, but you won't regret buying it. Fit almost perfectly on my 2007 Chevy Silverado LT (NBS) 4.8L engine. I already replaced the factory airbox with an Airaid system and installed a Poweraid throttle body spacer. The MIT installs easily and looks much cleaner than the bulky factory system. It installs easily and the only real problem is the radiator hoses don't line up quite right with the hole on the bottom of it. Not a major problem by any means. The MIT installs after the MAF sensor housing so it shouldn't interfere with its operation.Major noticeable differences are a more aggressive roar coming from the intake that's makes buying it worth buying alone. Also, there is a slight increase in power that's most noticeable when you first take off and it only takes the slightest movement of the accelerator to get it going.Things to remember:1. The computer controls the butterfly in the throttle body, so your intake might be capable of sucking more are, but the computer will only let so much of it into the engine.2. More airflow means more heat, so your engine will run a bit hotter and your exhaust will be hotter as well. An aftermarket intake is the cheapest way to burn up your O2 sensors.3. It's pointless to have your engine suck more air if the exhaust system can't expel it fast enough.4. The slight increase in horsepower will cause your transmission to drop gears at strange times until the computer gets used to a new shifting pattern.5. If for any reason your engine throws a check engine code, the codes may need to be cleared from the ECM using a Tech II computer that is almost impossible to find outside of a GM service center and they'll charge you just over $100 to do it. That being said, it's not something that absolutely has to be done as the check engine light will clear itself eventually.6. If you choose to clean your throttle body, you will get a high idle and GM will charge you the same $100+ to hook it up to their Tech II and put it into an idle relearn. Before taking it in and paying them that outrageous amount of money to do something that takes about five minutes, give it time. My truck did an idle relearn on it's own in a matter of a few days, give or take.

Reliable and Great product
This is a superb product. Solid construction, perfect fit. For my 2011 Chevrolet Suburban 5.3; the installation was simple, quick and neat. I was relieved in discovering the inset for the oem 'barb bracket', (keeps it, as factory, off upper radiator hose), is built in. All the clamps, breather hose, cool stickers, are included. I am a finicky DIY, even so, box to on the road: 40 minutes. Performance? Surprisingly effective. I have been tolerating the minor 'initial acceleration' hesitation since....2011. Gone now completely. Also, much relieved to discover zero change to engine/ interior noise, during normal use. Only when you 'get on it', then I am satisfied with a deep and pleasant tone; and smooth solid acceleration. Airaid has proven that our engines really are a vacuum; get that air straight in and out! I was a hold out until this product became legal in my state. Well worth the wait! Noteworthy: Amazon double boxed the unit. Arrived on time, (as usual), and perfectly intact.I am most sincere in this recommendation.

Love It ... looks clean when installed and my engine can breath now!
For the price I couldn't pass this thing up. My engine compartment looks SO much better with that horrible baffle filled constricting stock air tube. Nice to know my engine can breath now. I have an exhaust so I don;t hear the extra sound but I now it's there cause my dash rattles more now then it did before (to much cause something it rattling making noise in the dash since install .... not a bad thing to have more rumble just need to track down where the rattle is coming from). So though it's harder to hear the extra sound over my muffler I know its there cause I can feel it more up front and hear it in the rattle of my dash that now occurs. Many state they have an issue with this coming loose ... I say they are just not installing it correctly or they got one of the few in a bad batch of shorter tubes .... mine fit like a glove and has not budged since install a few months ago. This was one of the pieces of the my power upgrade ... since got a DiabloSport InTune Tuner and this thing really wakes up the engine then.Don't be fooled by the stupid full CAI intake set-ups from K&N Etc. out there .... I have read TONS on this MIT and it is overall the Better option to use over a full CAI unit.I coupled this with an AFE Dry Filter (didn't wan't K&N due to them being an oiled filter ... read about it before you follow suit and buy K&N for just the name ... they are not the best).Go it here at Amazon for 108 bucks .... at that price the cleaner look in engine and extra rumble is worth it ... if I get better gains that's just icing on the cake.

Sounds great. Not sure how much altitude plays into things
Liking my Airaid. Sounds great. Not sure how much altitude plays into things, but I live in Colorado (where's there's less oxygen per given volume of air), and I find truck holds better on hills. I used to hear the resonator baffles with the stock system kick in, and the torque would drop and the truck seemed to bog down simultaneously; no more! Also seem to have a 1.5 mpg improvement in gas mileage (again, perhaps altitude is a factor here). It is loud under full throttle though. If the gas mileage improvement is real, I can only guess GM went with all the baffles of the stock system for marketing purposes. I run with K&N oiled filter, which was installed a year prior to Airaid. Personally, I enjoy the growl under full throttle. Install was easy and clean enough, maybe 20 minutes. Just takes a little tweaking to get the location right; don't tighten things until you have the fit dialed in. I wiped Airaid ends with rubbing alcohol to remove factory silicone, and everything has remained tight and in place. Good purchase.
