Pentel GraphGear 1000 Mechanical Pencil, (0.5mm) Point Size, Black Barrel, 1 Each (PG1015A)

This pencil is awesome for woodworking! I love the solid, rigid body and the extended point leaves clean & precise marks. The metal body also allows it to be affixed on magnets which is great for keeping it handy on a tool holder magnet strip.Unlike the more common 'barrel' shape marking pencils, the extended metal tip allows you to use this pencil with very little lead exposed (which means less chance of it breaking off and no need to sharpen it - ever).My ONLY "complaint" with this pencil is that its solid build and weight make it uncomfortable to hold in your mouth... a habit I never realized I had until buying it lol.

LOVE these pencils. The lead is smooth, and fine. The pencil is nice and heavy, comfortable to hold. Very solid product, seems durable. It is a bit finicky when trying to get a new piece of lead to come down, but a great pencil overall!

So anymore, I’m an artist and I am formally educated as a graphic designer however, I do occasionally do some maker stuff and this is my favorite pencil for Technical drawing and schematics

Amazing pencil with some solid hefty and some great features. I love the knurled grip section with the rubber parts. The lead protector that retracts with a click of the pocket arm is very nice.

I have it on a string in my shop. It is my mark maker. It has stood up to some serious abuse, no problem. I wouldn't be able to do with something else if I lost this one. I would have to replace it. Perfect for my needs.AND, if you happen to need to write notes on music staff paper this is pretty good for that, too. Use the softest lead you can get for it.

I really like this pencil. I guess have become a bit of a mechanical pencil snob, or maybe this one just ruined me. My favorite feature is that the pocket clip acts as a tip release which allows the entire tip to retract in an instant. I can put it away without the lead breaking, and when I take it out again, with one push the tip is in place and the lead adjusted exactly as I left it. No time is lost adjusting the lead repeatedly. The pencil grips and writes exceptionally well. 0.7mm is a real sweet spot for thickness. 0.5 breaks too easily and 0.9 writes much thicker than I likek. The ONLY and I mean ONLY thing I would change is the way the upper and lower half are held together. They are held together with a plastic insert (this also happens to be colored part showing along the barrel. This insert just broke on mine. However this is not enough of an issue to prevent me from ordering another one. Which I am doing right now. I am tempted to give it 5 stars, but the plastic insert seems to negate one of the purposes of having a metal bodied pencil.

Best pencil I bought. Sturdy and was up to every task I put it through. This is the second one I’ve bought.

I have tried a great number of mechanical pencils these are the best. They retract automatically as you press the lever to clip them into your pocket. They work and keep working until you finally lose them. This is the only mechanical pencil I'm going to buy.
