Good quality hominy. Worth the extra cost. Will buy it again.
We make something we call Spanish hominy, which is much like making chili. Ground beef, onion, chili powder, whatever you want. We like the yellow hominy because it just looks more appetizing. Some of the brands we buy in the store are off color and have dark spots on them. Some take forever to soften up enough to enjoy eating. And sometimes there isn't any in the store. This hominy looked great as we drained it and dump it in with the cooked beef and it softened up very nicely in a reasonable amount of time. It did not get mushy when we left it in the crock pot for several hours. We always use at least two of this size can, or one of the larger cans, so we will be using it up in a month or so, making the meal once a week. If they are out of the yellow then we will try the white variety.

Love Bush’s beans
Until we found these in the smaller cans we were often throwing leftovers away. This is way handier

Nutrition Information Incorrect
I really like hominy. And this is excellent hominy, but I was disappointed to find the nutrition information on this product is inaccurate. The information shows 13 Total carbs and 3 dietary fiber. I am currently following the five to one diet, in this diet you divide the carbs by the fiber. If the carbs divided by the fiber equals five or less then It meets the requirements of the diet. 13/3 = a little over 4. In the hominy I received the total carbs are 17 and the dietary fiber is 2, 17/2 = 8.5. Way outside the 5 to 1 ratio. The good news is that the expiration date on the hominy is January 2024 so that gives me two years to consume the remaining 11 cans. And who knows by then I may not even be looking at carbohydrates!

one can dented and seal broken
I love golden hominy and Bushe's brand is great. I only wish it were available at my local Safeway store so I could choose cans individually to inspect them for dents.

Good news. No dented cans!
I hadn't had hominy for many decades. No wonder. None of the various supermarkets around here carry any brand of ready-made hominy in a can! My parents used to serve it once in a while. Never tried golden hominy, in contrast to the usual white variety. It tastes at least as good as I remember! Soft, but not mushy. The only downsides are the cost and all the salty liquid that takes up too much room in the can. I washed the kernels once to reduce the salt content. This was the cheapest/can I could find at Amazon. In contrast to the bad experiences of some reviewers with dented cans, mine were all in perfect shape!

HARD TO FIND HOMINY - thank goodness for Amazon
I’m glad I found golden hominy on Amazon. No store with 25 miles has the, here in Hemet CA. Very reasonably priced, and the taste is your classic golden hominy that used to be in the markets.
