Out with the Bose in with the Tivoli
Have been campaigning to get rid of my boyfriend's Bose unit for 2 1/2 years. Have had very ugly business dealings with the Bose fleet of lawyers. Finally a power outage and surge took the Bose unit out. Love that we don't have to have a glowing digital clock lighting our every moment or the phantom loading of our solar panels any more, when the Tivoli is off it is off. OK so as excited as I am to be rid of the Bose this Tivoli has knocked my socks off...This Tivoli unit is subtle and beautiful works perfectly in my modern house and still blends in (because of it's simplicity) to my partners 1860's log cabin. We noticed but even more importantly, our professional musician friends noticed immediately that we had a new system the sound is richer, had more depth and at low volumes the sound was still very rich and clear.

Tivoli Radio Combo
Was very happy with the vendor. Box was packaged really well and secure.Am a little disappointed with the sound of the system. It's not nearly as full as I had hoped. The bass is deficient and I think the subwoofer add-on would probably help. I'm thinking about buying one, but that's just one more thing to buy to make it sound better.

Exquisite Sound in Small Package
Because of the recent price hike (I bought it for $300, at the time it retailed for $400, now $700?!), I can't give it a five-start rating. It is a good system, but at the current price, not necessarily an amazing deal, just a really good small system.I have had this for about a year, and recently moved it to a place (the dining room) where I listen to music more often, and sometimes at a fairly high volume.I own a Bose Wave for work, and a Cambridge Soundworks 745i, both of which used to be in the Tivoli Radio Combo ball-park, before the price of the Tivoli shot up to component stereo system levels.Partly, but not exclusively, because of the stereo separation, the Tivoli system sounds truly spectacular in comparison to the other two very competent small stereos - just a whole nother level. The high notes shimmer and resonate in a way that humbles both the Bose and Cambridge systems. The base is solid, and the whole sound just feels deeper and more expansive. Some cons...The limited functionality is a bit of a drawback. Simple is nice, but I would like to be able to control radio volume and stations with the remote. The CD player volume can be controlled with the remote. The CD player has a huge "wall wort" electrical chord, which uses up one more outlet than most other systems in this range. The radio combo requires two outlets ... a clutter-enhancing disappointment.Great sounding, great looking small system. A steal at $300, great deal at $400, at $700 ... hmmm. I don't know.

Big sound in a small package
I got this as a Christmas gift and am really amazed. Once it was hooked up and turned on, I popped in a classical CD and it sounded like the piano was right there in the room! Yesterday I hooked it up to a laptop and played streaming audio-- also amazing depth of sound. And the other day I tuned it to a radio station playing 60's and 70's music. I was happy to find that "boogie oogie oogie" sounds fantastic on this little machine, too.

Perfect
Love this little CD/stereo. Just the right size--understated, minimalist design, good sound. Pricey but we bought when it was on sale.
