My 4 year old is enjoying them , although I have had to do a little editing along the way as we read before bed at night bc of some of the content. These are not my favorites of all the chapter book series we have read, but they are fine .

My four and a half year old daughter starter reading these about a year ago. We've read them all and most of them several times.What I love about the is that the stories are genuine, the people talk to each other in caring, loving and understanding ways, and overall it respects and uplifts their individuality. The issues that arise are dealt with, with compassion and empathy. Violet herself, is always thinking, creating, exploring, theorizing (she has a new theory in each book), and figuring things out. My daughter has begun coming up with her own theories which is adorable and reminds me of my own childhood ideas and adventures.Many of the chapter books out there that have young heroines, have drama, stereotyping and brattiness (for a lack of a better work) and if you're looking to avoid that, these books are a great option.I hope you enjoy as much as we have :)

Violet Mackerel's adventures are fun for early readers! And a good length also. My daughter loved them when she was little, she's passing them on to her younger sister. 🤩💁🏼‍♀️

We bought this set as a Christmas gift for my 7 year old voracious reader. She absolutely loves the Violet character in these stories, and we have had a number of talks about what Violet could or should do in the face of everyday challenges that the children face. The family dynamics, the friendships, the interactions between girls is believable and for once, not nasty or mean-girlish. These are a breath of fresh air after sampling so many neo-modern, rush-into-maturity chapter books on the market today. Love 'em. Can't recommend enough.

My first grader loves these and has read each one multiple times. Violet is her own person with theories and creativity, and a great role model. So many books are written with crude humor or simple plots to appeal to reluctant readers, but this book offers lessons on family, the environment, and friendships for kids who like to think. I love when my six-year-old tells me the storyline and she gets excited with each adventure. I wish there were more!

Adorable series! My 7 yr old granddaughter loves this set. Easy to read with a few pictures. Makes her happy that they’re about a 7 yr old too.

My seven year old is loving these books!

The stories are absolutely wonderful. I have a full set already which has been much enjoyed and returned to by my 5, 7 and 9 year-olds. I bought this set as a present, and am just very disappointed that two of the stories are missing (including my personal favourite - Violet Mackerel's Pocket Protest). So I most definitely recommend the series, but the full one of six!

This is a fantastic collection of novels from Anna Branford. Beautiful and thoughtful-gentle story telling at its best. My 6 year old daughter and I loved reading these.I would highly recommend these!

Violet is one of our favourite Mighty Girl's! This is a wonderful collection of books for a little girl aged 4-8. Each simple chapter book details the adventures of Violet Mackerel, a little girl with big and brilliant ideas. Violet has opportunities to create, build, and explore in each book in the series. We love her spunk and positive attitude! This boxed set would make a fabulous birthday gift!
