I have been using a Raptor Shield on my small dog for the past 3 years. When we decided to get a puppy, I immediately ordered one for her too! My vet was warning me about hawks and shared a sad story about a time when a hawk almost got her dog. I told her how safe and confident I feel using the Raptor Shield for my small dogs. At first, I thought it was a lot of money for "plastic" as my brother called it. But, I honestly don't know what I would do if a hawk got my dog(s) and I just had to stand there watching them fly away with my baby. Using the Raptor Shield allows me to relax and gives my dog(s) a chance just in case a hawk or owl does try to get them.

I live in a large city with heavily wooded neighborhoods. I've seen hawks and owls in my own backyard and coyotes outside my fence. I've read many articles on whether or not a hawk or owl can pick up a 6 lb dog, but was convinced to buy these shields based on the experiences of several friends whose pets were attacked while being walked. My tiny Chi loves to explore the backyard and track the chipmunks and squirrels, but I had to stay with her constantly and have seen very large owls come within a few feet or her, before I picked her up and took her inside. Now I feel like she can wander on her own and has some protection against aggressive predators. The shields are well made. My only concern is they may get hot in the summer heat. Overall, a great product!

Julie is a 10 lb papillon, white, and I'm sure looks like a beautiful rabbit to hawks and owls. Although I live in a heavily populated area, I see hawks quite frequently due to the abundance of birds and chipmunks in my back yard. A few times the hawks have even lighted on my fence and just "sat" there for up to 5 minutes. I saw one literally jump off the fence and march like a penguin into my shrubbery. Having once seen a hawk swoop down and take one of my pet banty chickens, fly away and then drop it to it's death......well, it terrifies me for Julie. I don't think my hawks are big enough to carry Julie away. But I do think they could do significant damage or even kill her if they tried. The vest fits her perfectly. It is lightweight and easy to put on. She doesn't like it, but I've made her wear it in the house to get used to it. Now I can let her out the back door to do her business, or to hang out in the yard when we are tending our garden without worry. I hope I never find out if it really works. If I do, I'll update my review.

Product is well made. One side cracked but I contacted the seller and received an immediate response. Issue was also taken care of immediately. My dog is not bothered by having to wear it.

We stayed in a cabin for a week right underneath a tree with a very large eagles nest. My dog usually hates to wear coats or anything like that but the raptor shield was effortless. She ran around in it like she wasn’t wearing anything at all. Very well designed.

Fits well if you follow the measuring directions. I live where there are predator birds galore. My chihuahua could never get to play in the yard without the peace of mind this gives me. Only took a few days for her to not mind at all wearing it. Worth its weight in gold to me.

Details, such as the soft inner-lining and extendable design are user friendly. It's straightforward to put on my chihuahua, and she runs happily around our block wearing it. I still keep an eye on her when we're out walking on the property together but the puncture-resistant Raptor Shield gives me extra peace of mind.
