Kwikset 99910-060 Halifax Keyed Entry Lever and Downtown Single Cylinder Deadbolt Combo Pack Featuring SmartKey Security in Satin Nickel

I purchased these a while ago and just had them installed today. I hired someone to do the installation since I had read that it was a bit tricky. My guy had no problem and they look really nice. I would recommend this product.

As part of our remodel, we have replaced all the interior doors with Halifax locksets, and wanted to use these on one of our exterior doors into the garage. For the most part, it was a success.=== The Good Stuff ===* It fit easily into the existing mortises, and the whole installation took about 15 minutes.* I like the styling- it is a nice match to the other locksets, and the deadbolt has a sleek and modern look to it.* The latch mechanism works easily and smoothly, and catches and locks with no problems.=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===* If you know how to install a latch and deadbolt, the instructions shouldn't mess you up too much. To be honest, I took one look at them and tossed them. The only real tricky part is figuring out what screws go where, and the instructions were slightly less than useless on the subject.* I am not sure I quite trust this lock on a true exterior door- it does seem a bit less robust than other entry locksets.=== Summary ===For the entry between our laundry room and garage, this worked perfectly. It matches the other locksets, and has a sleek and modern look about it. Installation was easy (assuming you ignore the instructions), and it has performed flawlessly so far.

I absolutely love this handle and deadbolt combo, for $70 it’s an amazing buy that looks like a $200 set when it’s on the door. But I’m sad to report that the $230 August smart lock I purchased alongside of this does not work with Kwikset’s “low profile” deadbolts!Obviously this isn’t Kwiksets fault, but those of us that are attracted to this modern design are more likely inclined to appreciate modern smart locks to add on to the deadbolts. I’m at a loss here and it seems as though my only choice is to purchase separate, bulky, ROUND, deadbolts as for at the end of the day, smart security is worth more than attractive security.I hope my review can save those who are considering this to accompany an August Smart Lock and just buy the Halifax handle instead with a “classic” round deadbolt.

The lock set went in with no problems but I needed to call their tech support for the bolt installation. It is different than a ‘normal’ bolt in that the pin from the keyed side does not turn the bolt. It turns a fitting on the back of the inside half which then turns an outer pin that fits not the bolt mechanism. I did find it in their instructions but it was not very clear. Otherwise, it looks and works great.

--Revised Review--Update: The outside handle and lock have started to stain and oxidize from sunlight. It looks as though there is a layer of old lacquer that's fading really badly.Original:I bought two sets of these together for our house. Front and back doors. I was going to get them from the local hardware store, but they didn't want to price match Amazon.Installation wasn't bad, just be sure to follow the enclosed instructions. Also, hold on to the special "skeleton" key incase you need to rekey both doors and use the same keys.The finish appears to maintain itself. Our back doors are south facing and get 99% sunlight every day. So far they have not faded or oxidized.The ONLY thing I would change is I'd prefer a slightly smaller handle angle. AKA, 90 degrees to open the door is a bit much. I'd prefer if the handle just needed 45 degrees to open fully. It makes one-hand (or elbow) operation much easier.

Love it!! The people who complained about it not working with a standard door (saying it was off center) or how they couldn’t take the key out when it was locked... I experienced similar but then I READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS and voila! Perfect! I installed, and rekeyed it with no trouble at all. It’s beautiful.

Looks great and is classy. Be very careful to make sure to key smart key exactly as instructed or you’ll be faced to pay a locksmith to realign the key tumblers.

I have installed the same brand door handle and deadbolt on my front door a year ago, but bought at a local store instead. The amazon price was much better, but back then, I didn't want the hassle of exchanging. I recently exchanged my french door locks and installed this one. Am very happy with the clean look, design, and installation.
