The main characteristic of the black Diamond Like coating is reduction of abrasive wear. Besides this, it's surface hardness is higher than most coatings, this ensures a long-term function, optical stability and higher durability. Weight: 253g.

No box, that's odd...
Weird, this is the first KMC chain I've purchased that just came in a bag. Most come boxed up. Not sure why that is. Haven't installed it yet, hopefully it's the same quality I've come to expect from KMC.I think i might return it. Lack of packaging makes me think it could be a knockoff or substandard quality. Read reviews of other people who broke this chain in the first few rides. That shouldn't be happening with a real KMC chain.I included a picture. Top is how this chain was packed, and the bottom is the box for every other KMC chain I've bought. Just doesn't seem right.

best lightweight chain for the buck
Chains should be replaced often, before it wears your chainrings and cassettes. So why buy expensive shimano/sram when we have this super light, strong chain available for a lot less? This particular chain with hollow pin and machined link faces is super light. I've had four now and have never seen rust and have not had a break. I replace at earliest wear but I still get near 5K miles (with weekly boshields K9 oil wipedown). I have not gotten better with any SRAM or Shimono, wiperman chain. Shifts just as well too

Not compatible with Dura Ace CN-7801
I have a Cannondale that I ride on wet days. It has an older 10 speed Dura Ace FC-7800 crank set and 12-21 cassette.I usually run CN-7801 chains (not the CN-7900 directional chain for FC-7900 crank sets).I've never had an issue with Shimano other than the quick wear. After all the wonderful reviews, I purchase one of these chains. It skips while climbing in 1st gear or accelerating in 1st with a decent amount of force.Shifted fine although it felt a bit gritty. I tried adjusting the derailleur to see if I could stop the skip, but nothing fixed it.I put the old chain on... no skipping... I put a new CN-7801 on and no skipping.I'm sure it's a wonderfully durable chain... but I'll never know... because after 20 miles... in the garbage.

If you like the color!!!!
It's unidirectional but if you like your paint color its best to always install the chain in same direction.. Switching gears seems to wear the paint off of the drive side pretty fast. Also if you use a heat gun to dry your your chain after degreasing it like me since degreaser never really dries in my opinion (Had a dime size drop of park tool cb4 sit on my desk for over two weeks) it will fade the green in my case after 5 or 6 times but I got it pretty hot each time. well till it quit putting off smoke. I got around 2k on mine before it snapped, but I think a hard shift at a very bad time ultimately killed it. Was easily fixable by adding a 2nd missing link & is still going strong thru the woods & up hills

Very affordable price for a great product
It's a chain it does what it's supposed to do and as long as you take care of it like you're supposed to possibly do a wax lube set up and if you have any question about that bass will you heat up wax you submerge the chain in the wax after doing a chemical clean to the chain and the wax will course keep it well lubed and keep dirt and stuff out as dirt does not stick to wax

Performance wise but bad packaging
Been using KMC 10sl on my DH bike. Nothing beats this chain. Durability and performance are in this chain. Been using other brands with similar price on this and some expensive ones. Durability are maybe the same but performance, hell yeah!!! Smoothest shifting in this chain is unbeatable. 4 stars? Yes its because of the Packaging. I dnt know why its not in a box. The chain can be damage during shipping and customers will be disappointed and giving this chain bad reviews.

Solid chain, definitely recommend!
I did not compare chain weights or any other specifications for this purchase. I have been a fan of KMC chains for 10+ years. I like how they feel and perform. I've never had a defective KMC chain out of the box either. I definitely recommend these chains for recreational riders to serious racers (choose a model accordingly).I've been a Category 1 cyclist but am currently returning to the sport after 7+ years away from serious training. So ive gone through my share of chains but I'm not the "expert reviewer" at this time.

You can't beat KMC chains
I use the X10SL chain on my full suspension mountain bike, and it hasn't failed me yet. Installation is easy thanks to the missing link, and shifting is smooth and precise. I like how the missing link can be reused, unlike SRAM links which are "one time use only" - very helpful when it's time for a full disassembly and cleaning. The gold finish is holding up well, and it also helps make my bike stand out on the trails. I've mis-shifted a few times, and I've shifted on accident while hammering down on the pedals, and the X10SL didn't break or bend. The price is a little high for some people to swallow, but it is a high quality chain that in my opinion is worth it.

Durabilidad...

Functional bling
Used this chain to replace the previous KMC chain I had. It was quite easy to do with the quick link, even without the chain tool. I used needle nose pliers instead. The chain had plenty of lubrication and I rode 50 km right after putting it on without any issues. The gold looks fantastic and makes it easy to see when grime is building up.

Can't go wrong with a gold chain!
Can't go wrong with a gold chain! I use this on a Dura Ace 7900 equipped bike. Way better than the Shimano chain, in my experience. It is very quiet and the shifts are crisp. Never had a problem with the quick link, and I'm a big, aggressive rider; I actually have more confidence in it than in Shimano's replaceable pins. I use the KMC opener tool for ease of maintenance, but the closer tool is unnecessary. Like any chain, it will stretch and will eventually need to be replaced.

Very nice & delivered quickly for covid-19
The following are not faults of the chain! After first ride make sure you clean it down THOROUGHLY! The black coating on the rollers comes off and makes a huge gluggy mess. You wanted a light chain and they use hollow pins to help achieve that. If your chain breaker tool is pointy it will jam itself without pushing the pin out. Grind the point flat and it will work fine.I love this chain! Done a few hundred KMs with it so far and no issue. It looks great and matches my bike nicely.

Beautiful chain
Totally unnecessary, but it looks so good. Shifts clean. It's an excellent chain. Probably not worth the price. But some times you have to splurge
