Perhaps Fuel’s best book
I wasn’t sure if I’d like this book as much as I liked the other similar titles from Fuel, but wow, this is nearly, if not for sure, their best release! (Chernobyl release also very good). Not only does this book have stunning photos, it is a photo book that finally has amazingly thorough information about each monument shown, including location and it’s current condition, as well as a very informative history. I have learned a ton from this book!

Fantastic book
This book is amazing, gives individual, in-depth info on those big Soviet-era monuments that regularly make the rounds on social media, INCLUDING in most cases info about their current status. .One memorably recommended tourists avoid a certain site because of recent local violence, another was clear about a site's recent dilapidation - in both cases they provide the reasons behind those changes.Adds historical insight about the complicated social and cultural legacy of these works, as well as the artistic and manufacturing info you're looking for.The inside of the dust jacket is a map showing each monument's location, as a bonus. Rarely have I been so pleased with a book.

Super interesting
As an urbex hobbyist and descendent of Serbo-Croats, I bought this book on a whim. It’s basically a cool catalogue of spomenik across the former Yugoslavia. It’s well written for what it is (a catalogue with an intro) and it’s super interesting to get info on the state of these monuments now. The map and its GPS coordinates will be useful when I travel to see some of these places. Very interesting and educational.

A melancholy pleasure.
This is a useful primer in the recent bloody history of the region, as well as a data rich survey of these monuments, which to my mind share a certain characteristic of soullessness - which I suspect is because of the officially required avoidance of the quality of devotional transcendence. Lumpen symbolism, the thing that necessarily fills such a vacuum, is a very poor substitute, made all the more poignant because of the terrible events these monuments strive to nobly commemorate. Interesting also to compare and contrast the publicly visible modernist projects of soviet countries as against free, democratic ones - especially since many of the west's practitioners immigrated from the east. Ie, what happens if you deliberately ban one of the main qualities on the menu for conceiving and making anything.

Beautiful photos and history
The book has many high quality photos showing the monuments as they appear currently and previously, with a map inside the dustcover showing where they all are. Each monument has corresponding description with the name, materials, location, size, and the history of its place in the past and current culture.

Amazing!
This book is first of all a source of very detailed information about atrocities, battles won and battles lost before during and after WW2.In addition, it’s a physically beautiful book - extremely well constructed with heavyweight pages, and top-quality photography. It’s a joy to read, despite all the sadness it explains.

By even a slightest interest in Spomeniks, this book is must have!
Its important to know that this book is so useful that even myself knowing this monuments and being local to that parts of the world and the history, was using it to navigate and better plan my trip. Even if one never visits any of these sites, this is such an interesting piece of history amazingly documented by the author. I could not recommend it more! BIggest thanks to the author
