The best audio item I have bought so far... for sound... for value... for aesthetics... A ++++++
As with most other people I cannot praise this Streaming DAC enough. It's super easy to set up by using the WiiM Home App, and offers an amazing feature set and unparalleled connectivity options that you can't buy elsewhere for TWICE THE PRICE (trust me, I looked). The DAC chip (ESS) is excellent providing great sound quality (I was using Q Acoustics M20 Powered Speakers and a B12 Sub) - what's really important with this is the connectivity options... having E-arc AND a sub out (with Bass Management) is a game changer and enable you to blend the music volumes from the main speakers and the bass accordingly meaning you can tweak either depending on the mastering of the music you're listening to. I could go on forever about how good this unit it, AND it's on offer for a few days under Prime Deals, so just grab it. Worth knowing that it's a streamer for most platforms but you can also stick a usb drive into the back of it and play your local files (FLAC ETC) via the Wiim Home App which in itself is VERY user friendly and reliable. Finally, the support from WiiM and Updates team is second to none.

Great sound and aesthetics at an excellent price.
I have owned a number of streamers over the last few years including Bluesound, Raumfeld and Arylic, the most recent being the Arylic S10+ which I used in conjunction with an SMSL SU-1 DAC which sounded good but I found it irritating to use as my streaming service of choice is Amazon Music which it only supports via Airplay which I found to be very inconsistent in operation. The WiiM Ultra was a step up in price so I was expecting better performance and so far it hasn't disappointed. The WiiM Home control app is excellent and very versatile and once downloaded the setup was a breeze although the firmware update took about 15 minutes. I use the analogue output to feed a pair of Q Acoustics M20 powered speakers, I couple the Ultra directly to my router via an ethernet cable, I have my Mac computer connected via optical digital cable and I have external solid state drive connected via USB. The unit itself is very substantial and quite weighty and certainly good for the price, the touch screen has good clarity and clear graphics and it's nice to have album artwork displayed while listening, and it defaults to a clock when there is no music playing. The supplied remote is good quality and works well, only black mark is there were no batteries supplied for it, shame on you WiiM ☹️ It works via bluetooth not IR which means no delays that IR remotes sometimes suffer from. As to the sound quality it is a step up from streamers I've had previously, the previous best I had was the Bluesound Node 2i which was a similar price, the Ultra is more detailed without being clinical and more even in tonal balance, the Node 2i being a little on the rich side of neutral. The Ultra is also a little more dynamic particularly in the bass. Overall I'm delighted with the WiiM Ultra and at it's price point it has to be regarded as a bargain and deserves a 5* rating.

Brilliant Streamer.
The WiiM Ultra is the bargain of the year. Being an old bloke its taken ages for me to embrace streaming music. I took the plunge and bought the Eversolo DM-A6. Tried to like it but could never get the vinyl like warmth I required. Returned it and got the £865 back. Then I heard about the WiiM Ultra. Got it for £275, and expected much less from it. Set up was easy. Used a digital Coaxial cable to my amp. Downloaded the app but initially used Amazon Music and Spotify via my phone to play music. You can use the WiiM app and the supplied remote if you prefer. I've spent years perfecting my system. Thorens deck/Goldring E3 cartridge. Onkyo integrated amp. Musical Fidelity CD. SkyQ box. LG DVD. LG TV. Huge LA Floorstanding speakers. The WiiM Ultra took its place on my Target rack and all was ready to play. Right from the get go I knew I could live with it. Unlike the Eversolo it was less 'hifi' and more musical. The sound is warmer, perhaps not quite as revealing as the Eversolo, but much more musical. The WiiM just makes you want to play more music! It gets your feet tapping, which is as it should be. It looks fine too. The screen is pretty basic and only 3.5 inches but it shows album covers and track info, which is enough for me. Build quality is fine too. Not as good as the Eversolo but at less than a third of the price that is to be expected. It has lots of options to connect to ancillary equipment. It comes with power lead (figure 8 type) and optical cable. There's even an ethernet cable. I just use WiFi. If you have a decent hifi system, or even active speakers I doubt you'll be disappointed with the WiiM Ultra. It's a great bit of kit. Far outperforming its price point. It's rare that something is much better than expectations. This is! Reduced from £350 to £279 now is a great time to score one, before they sell out! I forgot to mention WiiM do regular updates to the software so the app should get better.

Buy one - even at the normal price! Excellent device.
I have researched the streaming equipment market for six months and concluded that this device was optimal for my use case in comparison with other devices available. The sound quality was acknowledged to be first class, the features exceptional for such a device with many connectivity options which I needed. At its normal price, it was great value for money and I was preparing to buy it - then the special Amazon deal day came with a significant reduction and I didn't hesitate!! Having set it up, it fulfils all my expectations completely and I am really delighted with it! Easy to use, small footprint and looks attractive. Lastly, it transcodes my DSD 128 files on the fly so I can play them when I wish, although I have another small system to play them natively at 1 bit (which this can't do).

The Swiss Army knife of hifi units
I have two of these: one in the office connected to a Naim Muso, and one in the lounge connected to an integrated amp (Cambridge Audio). This really is the Swiss Army Knife of Hifi units. It does so many things, with its built in DAC, USB outputs and inputs, enabling a flash drive to be connected, so many uses. The Wiim Ultra is a game-changer, in my opinion, in the hifi world, owing to its resonable price, features, high sound quality, and user-friendliness. The App is also excellent in its usability and has a lot of customisable features. And the screen is as bright as you want it, clear, and touch-screen, which for this price, is amazing. Works great as a streaming preamp, and USB playback from a connected solid-state drive is fast and of high quality for the price. If you're even slightly tempted to take the plunge, just do it -- you won't regret it. I don't think this can be beaten (at time of writing) for the features at this price. If you're in no rush, it's worth waiting for the price to drop at certain times of the year (sometimes by as much as £50 or so). Photo shows unit currently residing under my PC monitor.

All in one budget box competes with much more expensive profucts favourably
Great streamer. Through a quality dac, i havent heard any better. The internal dac is good and the connectivity is excellent as are the features as a digital preamp.

Sounds and facilities are amazing.
Got this for £80 less on a Prime Day deal. For £279 this is a bargain. Designed to plug in to an amp, this streamer is a Swiss army knife. It does everything I could want it to do. Compared to my Majority Fitzwilliam 2 the sound quality is much more detailed. I run a Musical Fidelity Pre-Amp, bi-amped in to a pair of Typhoons driving Acoustic Energy AE120 floor standers. You can tell the difference straight away, you notice things that weren't as prevalent. The Bluetooth quality is better as well. Clarity and precision very much become apparent. The app is easy to download and set up but it does have it's problems. I am still working through those. I think the problem is not with the streamer but is with the apps themselves. You can start playing music straight away but it takes a while to get used to having so much to play around with, The Wiim is very versatile and you could run your house off it if you were clever enough. I am still trying to get the voice activated remote to work but will eventually get it sorted. The buttons in the remote are very limited but the touchscreen is a doddle to use. You need to have a good internet signal. Otherwise the streamer may be a bit slower. Overall this bit of kit is a start performer. I still haven't tried a turntable yet. Originally at £349 this was a steal for £279. Still getting used to what it can do.

PARAMETEIC EQUALISER COMPENSATES FOR HEARING LOSS AND USE AS DIGITAL TRANSPORT
Others have said nearly all that needs to be about the Ultra It is exceptionally good for the money and has an excellent app. However, there are two 'niche' points I would like to flag up which could make the Ultra a no-brainer for for some of you. 1. I have developed a slight upper frequency hearing loss in one ear and have an excellent quality audio system without tone controls. The Ultra gives me an excellent digital parametric equaliser, adjustable separately for left and right channels, working through the digital outputs too. Also, unlike most analogue tone controls it does not seem to adversely affect the sound quality. The Ultra has therefore futrue-proofed my old, expensive and excellent Naim 272 streamer/ preamp - at least for digital sources. The Ultra, going through the Naim to my Musical Fidelity headphone amp and Grado RS 2X headphones sounds spectacularly good, even through my highly atuned but now poorly tuned ears! (The DAC in the Naim sounds appreciably better than the one built into the Ultra, even though that is very good for the money.) 2). The quality of the Ultra's digital outputs have been criticised by some internet reviewers, they're OK but don't expect a signal from them to sound as good into your external DAC as those fitted to a much more expensive streamer. Reading these, I bought a cheapish SNSL source adapter and reclocker which Cheap HiFi Man and others claim makes the Ultra sound as good as much more expensive transports. (I got it ahead of time so that I could use my existing DAP into my Coax and optical input only Naim.) Well, I was very surprised when the Ultra not only sounded as good as the streamer built into the Naim when just fed to it through a good quality Van Den Hul coaxial lead, but sounded a fair bit worse through the SMSL reclocker - I asked Google! Apparently, the Naim reclocks signals coming into it anyway - probably using more expensive components than the SNSL I wonder? So then, the Ultra is a superb way of future-proofing the Naim or other high quality DACs which reclock the signal. A reclocker 'might' help with ones which don't.
