Our son is in the Army and currently stationed in FL. We visit from IN a few times a year to spend time with the grandkids. At some point during the visit, I always end up at their home alone while grandma and them go to a movie or shopping. I love doing pranks that last long after I've left. So this past Christmas I found these and purchased them. Sure enough, the day before we left I got left home alone. Not wanting to make them easy to find and annoy them as long as possible, I had to get a little creative since these are quite loud. I pulled out a drawer on either side of the kitchen and taped them to the backside. I also made sure to tape them so the speaker side was against the drawer which muffled it just enough to be heard well but not loud enough to pinpoint the exact location. Being that they go off in random intervals and one on either side of the kitchen it sounds as if it is a real cricket moving around. Fast forward to late March and our other son went down to visit his brother. He had know about my prank from the beginning. To my surprise they were still chirping and had not been found. He told his brother I was responsible but played dumb on knowing the location. The phone call I got was hilarious. Telling me how they've emptied cabinets, spent time making sure every outside nook and cranny were sealed, all to no avail. I still refused to give up the locations. Got a call towards the end of May that one had finally stopped working. They came up to visit for a week in July and sometime during their trip here the other finally died and I got a phone call from his wife once they got home happy that it was now silent in the house. So yes, these are great gag gift. Put a fresh battery in before using (I did because of how short the other reviews referred to them lasting). Get creative in where you hide them and you can just sit back and enjoy the torment they will cause.

These have been so much fun at work. Small enough to tuck away, unseen. Just loud enough to be sure they're noticed. The different sound options are a good selection as well. And the batteries have lasted for pretty long periods.

Absolutely the best prank I’ve gotten my hands on. After having one left in a “junk drawer” after a Christmas party I had to get some of my own. I ordered two packs and hid them with joy around neighbors houses. The best one was on the beep setting in a buddies garage. After several weeks, he had a plumber come out to check what he thought was his beeping hot water heater. After that wasn’t it, he was convinced his freezer was going bad. Several hundred dollars later, hairless and pissed off, he found it stuck behind the TV on the wall. Talk about cheap entertainment for me! A++ purchase!

Bought these as a gag gift and they work great. The battery lasts months and the sound is random making them difficult to track. Great gift
