Will this fit an Iphone 14 pro max in a Lifeproof Fre case?

I have a 12 Pro Max. It fits perfectly. According to a Google search, the 12 and 14 have the same dimensions, so, yes, it will fit.

Is there a plastic covering for screen?

Mine came with 3 self-sealing plastic bags that you seal the phone in, first, then put the orange case on. There is no hard cover to prevent screen damage. This is a floating case, thus the plastic bags. You could use ziplocks, also. If you were thinking of using the case for padding from falls, this would definitely pad any fall, but the primary use is for floatation. I put my phone in the case when we go on the boat.
