Monitor is Good, Shame About Amazons Labels Covering Important Information on the Outside!
This unit arrived a few moments ago. It was to replace a previous unit of the same manufacture that I gave to my son. They appear to be good, accurate meters which are clear and easy to use. This item was not in Amazon packaging, it was in the manufacturers packaging, and had unfortunately had an Amazon adhesive shipping label stuck to the outside of the box thereby obliterating the information and diagrams shown on the outer carton…… really intelligent thinking by someone. The reverse of the box was also damaged and badly marked. As the unit is for my use, I won’t return it, however, if you buy one with the intention to gift it, I suggest you request Amazon packaging. Monitor = 5* Amazon = 0*

Handy Backup Glucose Testing Kit for the Car
This glucose testing kit lives in our first aid bag, which we keep in the car, and it's been really useful as a backup. I originally bought it just in case we ever needed it unexpectedly, but it’s already come in handy when my wife forgot hers while we were out. It’s compact, simple to use, and gives fast results. Definitely a good option to have as an emergency spare or travel kit.

Compact & strips are cheap. Only 10 strips & lancets supplied though. Order more at the same time.
The cheapest option on Amazon when I looked (though I've since seen it even cheaper elsewhere) and it seems to be a good little meter. Easy to use, and doesn't require a large sample. Mine (bought July 2020) did come with a travel case. It's less brilliant value for money when you realise that the kit only gives you enough supplies for 10 tests, and it's going to cost you another £10 for 50 strips and a further £10 for 200 lancets. At that point, some of the more expensive options are actually better value as a starter kit. I haven't really compared the ongoing cost of supplies. (Edit: I have now compared the cost of supplies, and strips-wise, this is actually one of the cheapest to run meters available, with most others charging between 50% and 100% more per test strip. This seems to be the older version of the GlucoRX Nexus Mini, and the test strips are 50% dearer for that.) The PC link works, but the software looks dated, is not particularly well thought out, and requires .NET3.5 to be installed (which wasn't as easy as just following the regular instructions on my Windows 10 laptop and required some Googling and a registry change) as well as Crystal Reports runtimes. Connection requires an A to Mini B (not Micro B) USB cable. That connector has been obsolete for several years now, and it might take some digging to find an old cable that fits. You can get a graph out of the software, but possibly the most powerful feature is to export as CSV and then analyse your figures elsewhere. The meter itself has modes for 'AC' (before meal), 'PC' (after meal, typically taken 2 hours later) as well as a default mode, and the software will treat each category separately or show them all. The meter will show the last 450 readings, as well as averages over various time periods (7 through to 90 days) for each of the three categories Annoyingly, there's no way to edit out bad readings or to add the 'AC' or 'PC' flag if you forgot to set it before testing, in either the meter's memory or the PC software. I've had one or two in the mid 2 range where I've only got a partial sample onto the strip, and a few high misreads (seemingly due to hand contamination.) it'd be nice to be able to remove them so they didn't affect my averages.

Excellent simple glucose
Excellent simple glucose meter, simple to use and you get everything you need in the kit to get started. I am amazed at the new needles , I can't feel a thing . Great if you need to use your meter several times a day. Remember you only get a starter quantity of needles and strips . Good luck.

well worth getting.
I purchased these on behalf of a friend who wanted one for home. One for work and one as a spare. He says tthey are in his opinion the best ones to buy as they are cheap and reliable, unlike some others.
