Magdalena is a Godsend!!
I don't typically write reviews, but as so many have helped me, I am hoping this one will do the same for others. I am 51 years old and have been dealing with Menorrhagia due to Estrogen Dominance for about 8 months now. It's insane!!! My Doctor recommended a hysterectomy or uterine oblation - we had already tried synthetic progesterone and that didn't work. I just didn't want to remove body parts or do anything invasive. I started researching alternative ways to stop the symptoms of "going through the change". I had night sweats, hot flashes, terrible leg pain due to muscle weakness, ridiculously heavy and constant ladies days and nothing worked. I started taking DIM with breakfast and the D-Glucarate with dinner and this helped for about 6 weeks. My fault entirely however, I had no idea until purchasing Magdalena's Cooking for Hormone Balance that I was eating all the wrong foods. I stopped all sugar, carbs, and most definitely soy. I haven't eaten meat in 30+ years, but have gradually starting introducing it to my diet based on recipes in this book. Magdalena's book isn't just about recipes, there is so much more information. It has a test you can take to get a basic understanding of your hormone levels. However, I highly recommend starting with the saliva or urine test. I would suggest going to her website as it was extremely helpful for me, she has fantastic video's. This is where I learned how wonderful pomegranate is for balancing hormones. Check out the "store" on her website, this is where I found fantastic supplements and much needed information about the liver and how it controls everything in our body. It wasn't until I added the Brocco Power to my daily supplements that the serious liver cleansing started to take place. This stuff is amazing!!! I have gone to holistic healing clinics and have had at least 25+ liver cleanses (this is how I got off allergy shots), but nothing compared to the amount of stones I passed with Brocco Power. For the past month I've been taking DIM with breakfast, Brocco Power with lunch and D-Glucarate with Dinner. I'm 5' 4" and went from 127 lbs down to 112 lbs (my blood pressure is very happy with this). The night sweats have gone, I have very few hot flashes. I am still working on flushing out more bad estrogen to stop the pain in my legs and the continuous ladies days (it's minimal now). I am definitely heading in the right direction. This woman knows what she's talking about. Thank you Magdalena!!!!

Refreshingly unique combination of sage hormone advice plus wonderfully delicious and therapeutic recipes - just magnificent!
A magnificent book with a refreshingly unique combination of sage advice for hormone balancing, together with wonderfully delicious and therapeutic recipes and meal plans. It will inspire all of us women to fall in love with hormone balancing cooking plus guide us in learning to listen to our bodies as our hormones become more balanced! The hormone quiz and overview is great, as is the coverage of gut health, low blood sugar and blood sugar balance, and the importance of the liver in hormone health (love the 3-legged stool analogy!)The dairy reintroduction categories are practical - with explanations about cow and goat dairy and fermented dairy - not something we often see addressed.I love the PFF breakfast (protein/fat/fiber), the 14-day meal plans, the fun tips like using the lemon rind and why, the section on castor oil packs, the seed rotation rationale/recipes, the Food Apothecary with superfoods and herbs and spices, and the fabulous healing teas. I also I love that this approach encompasses Paleo, AIP, Anti-candida and Low fodmapsAnd of course, I love the recipe section, with all the beautiful and yummy images and the lovely blurb above each recipe – it feels like Magdalena is right here in the kitchen with me.These are some of my favorite recipes: Coconut Yogurt, the Hearty Beef Stew, the Zucchini Olive Muffins, the Seriously Mushroom Soup, and the Raspberry and Green Tea Lime Melties (this last one is also my favorite picture in the book).I’ve even had the good fortune of having Magdalena actually make some of these recipes for me and some colleagues at a conference (how lucky were we): the Farmer’s Wife Breakfast and the Decadent Chocolate Cherry Smoothie (I switched out the chocolate for carob and added some extra protein powder).I can’t wait to try the Grain-Free Pizza with a topping of medicinal mushrooms, the Tart Cherry Sorbet, and Kudzu Calming Pudding! It’s a recipe book I highly recommend for all women and for practitioners who work with women. I know my community of anxious women are already enjoying it and it’s a book I’ll be recommending over and over again!Trudy Scott, Food Mood Expert, Nutritionist and author “The Antianxiety Food Solution”

Hashimotos and insulin resistance
I have hashimotos, hypothyroidism and insulin resistance as a result of the 2. The last 13 years I have gone from 160 lbs at 5’9 to almost 300 with no change in diet. I have developed lipedema in my lower half. All of these things are either fueled by hormones or lack there of. I bought this book hoping to find something to help me feel better as a decade + of doctors dismissing, gaslighting and pushing levothyroxine has done nothing but make me worse. I’m willing to try just about anything, so let’s hope finding the right foods can heal my body from the inside out.
