highly recommend
i was skeptical at first but omg these saved my tank! i’m now able to have my male beta with community fish living in harmony. the tannins from these bags release slowly so it doesn’t drastically affect the parameters and it really helped with my betas fin rot quickly. i rinsed the bag with cold water before letting it float in the tank and it gradually sank to the bottom and still releases tannins slowly the fish seem to love it! the color of the water isn’t a bad thing btw.. it’s beneficial for the fish but if u don’t want the water color to change then u shouldn’t be getting a product that releases tannins.

So much easier than actual leaves
I boil water, put one of these in a jar and then pour the water over it to steep for about 5min. I add it to my water pitchers for water changes and the hot water helps me get my water to the right temperature. I keep a very blackwater tank for my 10gal cause I have an alien betta and they needs lots of tannins. Then I boil more water and reuse the same bag for my 30gal community tank. I use a turkey baster to add it to my water. I use an extra large glass jar to steep it in. Lot's of good tannins. If you only have 1 5gal or 1 10gal, then you might want to look for smaller bags, cause these are packed full and can be used twice in a row and still darken the water just as much. Have not tried just putting one in my tank. I found the actual catappa leaves (aka Indian almond leaves) to be too messy. If you do go with leaves, get thie big ones cause the small ones are more difficult to fish out.

Easy to use. Hopefully I'll have success in using it?
It got here sooner then expected. Thanks! As I needed it for my beta! 😊 boiling 4 leaves for a 2 gallon tank? Hopefully that'll be fine?

Honest Review
So I got my betta from petsmart (with fin rot already beginning - no shocker) and took him home to a 3 gallon tank before I placed him in a bigger one. Things weren’t looking good and for over 3 months I tried everything to get it to go away nothing worked.. last week he started sleeping more and would barely eat 3 days ago he wouldn’t surface at all except a huge burst to get air and then go back to sleeping under his leafs. I couldn’t get him to eat anything including his fav bloodworms. I got the leaves yesterday and none were crushed were all pretty great condition. Popped one in there and today he is back to being spunky, ate a good meal, is playing tag with my fingers again. Honestly thought I was gonna lose the little fella. As for the fin rot, not sure as it’s too early but it def brought my dude back to himself in just an overnight time frame. Once I see some progress I’ll update my review but it actually worked. And he loves playing with it. Hopefully soon he can go to his big tank with his actual plants and happy fins!

Betta is happy . I always throw a couple fresh ones in his take after weekly cleaning and he immediately makes a bubble nest
