The Story of Joy: From the Bible to Late Romanticism

I haven't finished the book. I know it's author, and the early pages are as engaging as he is. It is definitely not "light reading" for sure. A serious look at the subject matter from an exceptionally broad perspective, by a knowledgeable and competent scholar.
