To summarize the LILYGO T-A7670G's got issues
I've purchased hundreds of the 7000g model but failure rates have increased significantly due to excess workload based on low bandwidth. I bought this board for faster data transfer to our EC2 servers in the hope that the increase in bandwidth could decrease workload and extend life. Stuck to Lilygo because seemed to be easiest transition to maintain existing code. In addition I was excited to integrate its "Native SSL" assuming would stabilize library issues and backwards compatibility For two weeks I continue to get an arbitrary 715 error. Because I'm desperate to get beyond these issues and back into product trials, found myself trouble shooting and research mode for two weeks. I'm a gluten for punishment because I'm no closer to the answer just the variety of issues found that have compounded thus leaving me unable to resolve. Trying not to sound harsh, but I should get a paycheck from lilygo lol - along with about 15 others trying to debug these boards. Of the many issues I've found here's a few... there's probably an issue with noise derived from the antenna module that forces my LTE/4g SIM cards (I've tried three different data carriers) into roaming mode forcing me then initiate and AT Enable command to enable roaming that fails. Registered response of 5, roaming — the modem is registered to a network, but it is roaming, meaning it's connected to my network.. with the increase in noise impacting data transfer stack this on top of SSL and it's a bust. I then AT-Commanded into SSL mode on the modem but fails. Documentation is "zero" except with other guys on GitHub and other chat boards that have the same issues but when everyone is in different GPRS regions then you have board model inconsistencies 7670e/g/a... guys are eleven reaching out to Simcon for answers. I've submitted a request for any firmware updates or additional documentation and haven't heard back. Have I mentioned I've been working in this for two weeks! Documentation lacking, examples don't work. Native SSL non-existent. I would put off purchasing until all of these issues are resolved. Almost like Lilygo moved this model into production without a full QA. I now sleep with the error "715" in my dreams/nightmares. lol
