It is a bit fiddly to load but that is part of the fun; once loaded it works easily. Just two problems - the needles provided were too large to go through the centre of the beads provided; also the needle holder was too flimsy and broke very soon. Luckily I have other needles and threaders but I'd have been disappointed if I'd given it as a gift.
