Xero ShoesZ-Trek II - Men's Zero Drop Sport Sandals - Lightweight & Packable

Perfect- secure, light, flexible, comfortable.
Firstly, check the size guide on Xero Shoes' site- and if you're confused reach out to them! I've had nothing but great interaction with this company. I know this says they size 1/2 up, but I tend to wear a 9 or 10 in other brands, and even have a pair of 11s- however in these after discussion I was suggested the UK8 (US9) based on foot length, and they fit perfectly. (Fat feet, it seems). I also like my toes fairly close to the edge but I guess I could have got away with a size up and broken out a pair of scissors.I got the original version two years ago, just bought this revised version (as a backup because they're practically all I wear, there's still plenty of life left in the first which is a feat in itself) and they fit exactly the same, with a softer fabric strap (I understand this is now recycled material). Both took a day of wear, maybe two to get the fit just right per pair as your feet swell slightly during the day and you'll get a feel for how they grip - from then I've just left the main top straps mostly in place, and adjusted the back velcro for when I want to relax the fit (just walking) or clamp down (I've used these for scrambling, rockpooling and messing around in the water). If you don't typically do barefoot, wear sandals or low padding footwear all day, it will probably take awhile to get used to them so take care to feel for blisters on your soles and maybe have backup shoes as I had a couple form when I very first got them- but it only happened twice at the start two years ago and I've been good ever since (relevant mention- to be fair that was also on very dusty ground in hot weather).

They are so comfy and light weight!!!
Really well made and fits me perfectly. I've spent ages trying to find some sandals that would fit me and these do the job. I've done a 5km walk in them without issues and they provide a great grip with city walking. Even if they do a fifth of their advertised 5000 mile warranty I would be very happy at the price. To give an idea of the size, I'm measured as UK M 8.5 wide feet with fallen arches (at the end of the day). I normally wear Clarks UK M 8.5 wide, Merrell UK M 9 wide and Crocs UK M 8. The Xero Z-Trek UK M 8 fit me perfectly with about 1 CM at the front of my big toe and the straps before the joint (with the heel right at the back cup).

Warm
Warm in the tent under the bag. Tried to loosely strap sandals over the top to sit outside. That does not work

Very comfy and a good intro to minimalist sandals
Like these things a lot - my go-to for summer time.I wanted some Bedrocks, but they were a ridiculous price. So I got these instead. I have had them a while and hardly any wear to sole. Grip is fine, even on slick, wet rocks at the beach.Take your time and adjust them just right and these are great.

Not trekking sandles
These are comfortable sandles arround town or a weekend forest walk, but deffinitly not ideal for trekking anywhere more challenging. I have included a before and after photo following a 310km/192 mile trek. This is thr second time I used these sandlesbon the same walk and both times ended with large blisters in the same place on the base of my feet. I used them with socks and in 3 days they wore through the socks in the same place. On the flat or when walking on stone roads they work fine and provide adequate cushioning. But if they get wet either through rain, mud of a stream crossing you feet slide with no grip between your feet or the sandle. On one down hill section my feet slide through the front loop and the sandles turned un to a large U shape and they where sinched tight. How the rubber will last 5000 miles I have no idea. The last pair opened the fabric failed after a year. They are comfortable and lite which make them ideal sandles for casual walking or carrying on a hike post walking but they are not Trekking sandle.

Love hate relationship
I have a love hate relationship with these sandals. The straps need constant adjustment, the surface is very slippery and downright dangerous sometimes. I had a right fibula distal and proximal spiral fracture when wearing these sandals. I was running down a slope and am sure because of the slippery nature of top surface my foot just slipped through it... like a ski boot being caught in a badly adjusted ski.I have tried dancing with them as well, and that is not possible either as you will get blisters on your foot.

Costano poco
Costano poco e valgono poco. Calzano bene ma si percepisce che la qualità non è massima.

No tan buenas
Demasiado pesadas, y la suela demasiado plástico en el contacto con el pie por lo que puede crear rozaduras o o sudar en exceso.
