Nowhere near a Harmony replacement
Maybe i've been spoiled by the Logitech Harmony Elite, because my expectations are now high for a universal remote. I now find myself searching for a replacement for my Harmony Elite, the best remote control I have ever had. My Elite is almost ready to be put out to pasture and I need a replacement badly. On to the Sofabaton. What an utter piece of garbage. Again, maybe my opinion is skewed somewhat by the love I feel for the Harmony Elite. But damn this Sofabaton is a piece of junk. The screen does not look like the picture shown here. It's false advertisement. The font on the actual remote is some horrible blocky Atari looking ancient font and probably the worst choice for a font on a device display. Whatever engineer decided that would be a good font should be fired and publicly flogged. I can't believe that after all this time of customers complaining and complaining about the display font that it's still not fixed. It seems unless I'm mistaken that you cannot type in a channel number. I looked but I can't find anything that will let me type in a number. Not only that, if you need to use device specific controls you have to get out of the main activity menu by pressing the back button, then going into devices and scroll around until you find the control you need. There is so much work involved in just operating your equipment with this remote control.Continuously disconnects from hub. The hub is 10 feet away. I brought the hub onto my coffee table, now it's 2 feet away from the remote, continuously disconnects. I'm not even bothering calling support. It's going back.Sofabaton has an epic opportunity to get to market a remote control that rivals the Harmony lineup and that is a goto replacement for Harmony remotes, but they're failing miserably. I am just hoping that my Harmony will hold out until I can get the yet to be released Unfolded Circle remote, which looks to be an ACTUAL Harmony replacement. At $170, this remote is a joke and I have absolutely no faith in them making it any better if they cannot even change the damn font on the screen.

Almost as good as the Harmony
I was a big Logitech Harmony user for a long time, but unfortunately my newer devices we no longer able to be programmed or controlled with my Harmony remote. In looking for a replacement I came across the Sofa Baton, it had good reviews after some initial stumbles out of the gate so I decided to give it a try.I've been using this for about a month now to control several higher end devices, like my 4K Pioneer Elite AVR, a 120" 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector, 4k Roku Ultra, and my Xbox Series X. So far it is working very well. The device is pretty flexible, maybe not quite as customizable as my Harmony, but it is meeting my needs so far.The one down side, is the lack of a physical number pad. I didn't use it often, but it was handy on my Harmony when I needed it. You can input buttons from the soft menu, or using the app. There were also some additional hardware buttons on my Harmony that are not present on this like Guide and a few more video control options. Overall this is a very nice remote, easy to use app, the IR blaster hub and repeaters work nicely for hidden components. One neat thing is the ability to control your devices not only from the remote but from the smart app. The app has some additional buttons over and above the remote, so if your kids steal the remote and you want to take over, you can ;).Battery life is also very good, easily recharged via USB.Very happy with this remote, works for 99% of what I need, anything else is available in the App, even if a little bit clunky to connect and do a few things.

Cool but...
This universal remote is pretty cool, it can do almost anything and is very customizable. My setup is almost all controlled with this remote now and it's just so awesome to have just 1 remote now. Even though I like it, I do have 2 main issues with it. It's heavily customizable but not customizable enough to be extra convenient, it's just good enough. 2nd, My remote constantly loses connection to the hub, and I have to get up to unplug the hub, I cannot even connect to the hub with my phone most times.Setting up the remote is very involved, there's alot of settings to go through and setting actions requires alot of tapping and clicking through. Once setup though and when it works, it works phenomenally. One of the scenes I set up Turns on the TV > switches input on the TV > switches input on my HDMI switch > changes the volume on my sound bar > bluetooth connects to my Amazon Firestick. This process usually requires 3 remotes, and now I can activate this scene with a single scroll of the wheel and a key press. It's awesome, I don't even have to rely on HDMI CEC which usually works but is more annoying when it doesnt.Issue #1: Although I just talked about how customizable it is, I wish there was just a bit more customization for the 4 buttons on the bottom. Typically those buttons go unused on my other remotes and I thought they would be actually useful but I guess not. The main issue is that in the app, you cannot apply scenes to them, and it's a little bit tedious to apply certain keys to them as well. I wish I could put an example but It's been about 2 months since I set it up and I cannot even connect with the app to try to come up with an example which leads me to my 2nd issue.Issue #2: The hub is constantly disconnecting for my wife, which is worse than if it was disconnecting for me. When the hub disconnects or is not found by the remote, a message displays and the only way to get it working again is unplug it. I have to do this about 3 times a week. On top of that, I can't connect to the hub with my phone to make any changes to what I setup 2 months ago, Luckily I dont' really need to make any but if I did, I'm out of luck. I was able to connect once and make a change but even after trying for an hour I couldn't. The only tip I have is that make sure your phone and remote are on the same wifi, meaning both devices are on the 2.4ghz band of your wifi, if your phone is on the 5ghz, for some reason it will never find the hub since the hub is on the 2.4ghz. It shouldn't work like that at all but for some reason it does.Overall, for the price it's an OK solution. The price in my opinion is too high to be having these kind of issues though. It's amazing when it works and I love it, but when it doesn't work it's pretty annoying and makes me hate technology. Which is sad considering my username. I have to give it 3/5 stars, I'm already looking at alternatives..
