I am a HUGE Danny Trejo fan, and I haven't even seen most of his movies, but as for his food... I'll get to a review of his sauce in a moment but first I need to set up some backstory.I spent years trying to find a good Mexican cookbook suffering through knock offs posturing as "real authentic Mexican" recipes only to discover they were some poor fusion substitute filled with so many ingredients they drown the food in pseudo flavors. Essentially they all overcompensate for a lack of truly nuanced authenticity. Once I discovered the Trejo Taco's: Recipes and Stories from L.A. cookbook I'd finally found the Mexican cookbook I'd always been searching for. The recipes were simple and direct and filled with amazing flavor, leaning into the distinct attributes of each ingredient without trying to confuse your palette with everything in your spice rack.NOW TO THE HOT SAUCE. Once I knew Trejo had his own line of sauces it was a no brainer to order a case without even having tried them. I first bought a 3 pack of his All-Natural Medium Heat sauce and was delighted with how flavorful they were. Most hot sauces just bring the heat with little else to enjoy. So it didn't require much thought to go ahead and buy his Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Pepper hot sauce next. Definitely a step up in the heat department compared to the Medium version but still SO MUCH FLAVOR. I was amazed at how tasty the hot sauce managed to be while still increasing the HEAT.I think if you're someone who really enjoys REALLY HOT hot sauce there's a slight chance this might not be as hot as you would like. It's not going to make your eyes water. I'm someone who when I eat sushi I love a lot of wasabi to the point it makes my brain sizzle. This doesn't rise to that level, but honestly I don't need it to. It's hot enough while still having so much savory flavor that what it lacks in intense spicy heat it makes up for in overall taste. The scorpion pepper makes all the difference. My brother, a true hot sauce aficionado, and I agree that things like ghost peppers might be incredibly hot they don't really taste all that good. The scorpion pepper does and melds with the other spices so seamlessly.So like I said, I'm a HUGE Trejo fan and I can't recommend his books and products enough. Next time I'm out on the West Coast I want to visit one of his restaurants to experience his culinary talents first hand. Until then I'll be making his amazing recipes at home like Carnita Tacos garnished with grilled pineapple and pickled red onion, Guacamole with pistachios, Spanish Rice and refried beans with a nice helping of his hot sauce. You just can't loose!(p.s.) If my family's reading this, I'd really like a Trejo T-Shirt (Navy Blue, Large) for Father's Day. ;)

As a person who grew up eating chilis and scorpion peppers being one of the few I really like, I can tell you that this particular brand tastes very good, the smoky flavor with the sweetness is really good. I don't particular care for sweetness unless it's in a Thai sweet chili sauce. However this one is an exception. As for the heat I would rate it close to medium. It beats the Tapatio, Valentin etc. It's even better than Cholula.This is one you can share with your friends and not burn so as to not savor the taste of your meal. It can actually be used in many varieties for various meals. If you are not a chili person then if you want a mild flavor stick to the traditional store bought brands. Will I buy it again. Definitely. I go by the flavor n richness of the brand, not the popularity of the Actor. ENJOY!

Let's be honest. I purchased Trejo's Hot Sauce Trinidad Moruga Scorpion Pepper because I'm a fan of Danny Trejo. I expected the sauce to be good, but what I got was reallllly goooood. It is thicker than most hot sauces that come in that bottle style. The flavor is well balanced. The heat is enough to notice without being oily or overpowering.I tried it on everything for a week: eggs, hamburgers, wings, chicken, beef, pork, fish, steamed buns, and then it was empty. I was so sad. Now I just keep it in my sauce stock supply.

Personally I like olives but they aren't everyones cup of tea. I bought this for my chili-head boys and the heat was left wanting. Still, it is a well balanced and tasty sauce, which I'm sure was no mean feat with the featured hot pepper. The retailer Was Top Notch, issuing a replacement bottle in upgraded packaging. Hats off to you guys.

It is hotter than tobacco… but not by all that much. It is, however, very tasty. You almost just want to drink the bottle.PS. Later down the line, I was tempted to up the heat of this hot sauce. I added about a tablespoon of Hellfire's Fiery Fool to it. WOW! It has the same basic Trejo greatness, but you can feel the burn a lot more. It is no longer drinkable, but flavor wise, it's an 11/10. This altered version has become my most used hot sauce around the house (and that's saying something because I'm a hot sauce fanatic)!
