A Really good read!
This is the fourth book that I have read in this series. I find them very entertaining, especially the uncle. I like how the author explains the relationship with the British social hierarchy and how it affects the characters. This book was an easy read and moved along nicely with some off mysteries and plot twists. I am looking forward to the next book.

A fun romp through Kent
Isabella Bassett’s books are always a fun read. The characters have a depth which is not often found in cozy mysteries set in the 1920s in England, and Bassett is a gem when bringing out the beauty of nature.I do look forward to the adventures of Lady Caroline.

Another good story
Lady Caroline is in for a big surprise when she attends the engagement party for one of her rejected suitors. It starts off with Caroline discovered a murder man outside the front gates of a estate, then putting up with the horrible family of the proposed bride and a shocking change of the bridegroom that leaves her heartbroken add another death and you have a darn good story that will satisfy any mystery lover.

Pro or Con?
This story appeals to a very specific kind of reader. Is it you? Only you can be the judge of that. As a consequence of that statement, I have drawn up the following:Pros:Well-written with well-drawn characters.Fun mystery.Happy ending. Or is it?Cons:A LOT of internal dialogue. Too much, IMO.Slow story. Not entertaining to me.This story will appeal to someone. Just not me.

Period Detail Excellent
Lady Caroline is charming. You wish you could know someone like that. Also, the wealth of detail gives a feeling of authenticity to the story. There is also a subtle dark side: the effect of WWI, the English class divide, the callousness of the upper class, balanced with their numerous flaws. All of this provides more than just a story

Interesting plot
Book 4 of the Lady Caroline Murder Mystery series lives up to the promise of it's three predecessors and then some. Plots within plots do not disappoint offering fresh insight into the English aristocracy and it's quirks. I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
