what make/model of headphones are compatible with this stereo, we have bought 2 now and neither link to it thanks

As the hifi unit is bluetooth compatabe you need to be able to link the system. Bluetooth connections will work on smart phones and laptops but not standard bluetooth headphones as you are unable to select the link. You could use headphones with nfc and connect by tapping at the nfc point.

what are the dimensions of the control unit. see the size on the description but i think this includes the speakers

Not sure what you mean by the "control unit". The CD/Radio module is 20cm wide, 22cm deep & 12cm high. The remote control unit is 15 by 4.5 by 1cm. Overall it is a very good, compact system but lacks a headphone socket.
