Horrible Histories Gruesome Guides: Dublin: 1

Brilliant!

I like the series, they are funny and tell some of the lesser told parts of history.One have to remember that they are written for 10-15 year old-ish.the author have said that it is difficult not to write something wrong, because the first constants used to be considered the truth, but by the time the rest of the book had been written, those truths had been disproved.Also a good theme in the books is that you shouldn't always believe what a historian have written, because the winner writes the history.

As a Cork woman (2nd city in Ireland) I enjoyed not only learning about the horrible areas of Dublin history but also those relating to Ireland as a whole. The writing and illustrations are first-class. I am a big fan of HH and Terry Deary, books, tv series and stage show and this book continues in the same ilk.

This book was good only problem was there were som mistakes in the spelling of names like Eva. But it was still great!

A fun way to learn about somewhere we think is familiar.

… aber auch sonst gut und lesenswert, wie alles von diesem Autor.Keiner versteht es so wie Terry Deary, historisches ansprechend zu verpacken und unbekannte Fakten auszugraben. Jedes einzelne seiner Bücher ist ein Lesegenuss und dieses Buch ist keine Ausnahme.Mit solchen Büchern lassen sich sogar Schüler/innen, die eigentlich nichts mit Geschichte am Hut haben, dafür interessieren und wer mal einen neuen, frischen Blick auf historische Fakten werfen möchte, ist hier genau richtig.Uneingeschränkte Kaufempfehlung!

Really awesome & love the show horrible histories

Sehr lustig und verständlich geschrieben. Auch für nicht so gut englisch sprechende Personen geeignet. Leider etwas kurz daher einen Punkt Abzug.

I bought this before I headed over to Dublin. It added a lot to my trip to know the history in a fun way and recognize some of the places the book referred to.

I love every one of Horrible Histories books, this one is no exception :)
