OOh it's big
Well I had a small plastic cage thing that was given too me with a baby Russian dwarf hamster (50th birthday present from my daughter!!), she soon outgrew it and so I researched on Amazon and chose this.Be under no illusion that this cage is HUGE. Read the dimensions carefully, use a tape measure and mark out the space required, and then still be surprised when this thing arrives. My hamster (Murph) is now living in a home that is over 3 times as big as my own house if our sizes are considered!!She loves it! She keeps 'moving house' from the included shelter to tunneling a hideaway downstairs in the substrate. I've got her a big wheel now as well and she loves that. Plenty deep enough base for a 2cm sawdust base with a good amount of 'Small Pet Select Jumbo Natural Paper Bedding, 178 L Natural Brown Paper' over the top (also an excellent purchase!)Downsides: it's a bit of a pain to clean out and it's not that easy accessing it through the 4 small access holes (big toys have to be placed in before the cage is lowered over the base).Didn't know that hamsters also like climbing bars if they are given the option. Looks terrifying but she seems ok after she 'jumps/falls' off onto the substrate. She's happy so we are happy.

A few design flaws but overall ideal for a Syrian hamster - large!!
This was the only cage I could find that was large enough for a Syrian hamster, all the pet shop ones were far too small. I like that this has three levels too so that he can make the most of his space. The deep base allows for a thick layer of substrate, Bruno loves making himself a bed underneath the first floor where it's dark. The wooden hut that it comes with is a good size.As you can see in pic 2 there's plenty of space for a large 12 inch hamster wheel which is ideal. There is a slight design flaw in that the bridge from the second to first floor blocks the entrance of the bridge from the ground to the first floor, if that makes sense. I bought a little staircase for it to sit on which seems to do the job, demonstrated by Bruno in pic 3.As mentioned in other reviews the doors are a bit small (4.5 x 4.5 inches) which is a shame for such a large cage as it makes it hard to get things in and out (pic 4).It must have got thrown around a bit in delivery as the roof came a bit damaged with the wires bent (pic 5) but I didn't bother sending it back as I didn't really think it mattered. Just to note it also didn't come with the 2 plastic bowls. I didn't care as I had my own but could be seen as false advertising. It was little tricky to put together as the floors just slide into the wire (pic 6), it doesn't clip into place or anything so you need to be careful to keep it up straight or they will just slide out.Overall I'm pleased with my purchase - there's plenty of space and it seems pretty sturdy.

Above cage minimum!
Despite some of the negative reviews I bought this cage because it is one of the few commercial hamster cages that is actually above the minimum unbroken floor space (450sq inches) and I can say I am very happy with my decision. It arrived pretty much the same as the photo, you only have to piece together the bars, base and levels and you are done. It is all vary secure and I don’t think any hamsters would be able to escape. I say hamsters because although it says small animal you really shouldn’t be using this for anything other than hamsters or maybe mice. Gerbils would probably chew through the bars ( like they would with any barred cage) and it is too small for anything bigger. I do wish that the doors were larger or that you could have just one very big door on the roof as spot cleaning isn’t easy to do without detaching the base. The small doors also make it tricky to add in larger toys quickly. The base is also great for dwarfs (spl?) it is exact 6” however being slightly deeper would also make it a burrow heaven for Syrians. So if there is anything I would change is the door sizing and maybe that the bars would come in different colours (this is a bit extra but I am not very keen on the black). Also the photos I have provided is just to show how big it is and what types of things fit. I really do not want any criticism as I only just got a baby Syrian and am still upgrading toys and getting more substrate, I was just a little low when I took the photo. I am sorry this turned out quite long but I hope this helped.

Faff to clean out due to shelves
Great size. Sturdy. Not so easy to access majority of areas through doors. Hamster has a field day running away before you can move to the next door.To clean cage out you need to take all the top off inc shelving and ladders. Two person job, any spilt food then spills on floor. Messy and a faff

Rubbish value for price
I bought a few of these thinking they would be great for my hamstery think again they really hard to get the shelves in the bars flimsy i areas and for the price you pay you’d expect top notch for them, in the end I didn’t bitter with the shelves and made our own to put in, very disappointed as they cost a fortune

Arrived damaged, returned.
Parcel arrived damaged, bottom plastic basin was cracked. The cage bars were damaged and looked squished which left a gap, not animal friendly

Base and wire section arrived intact. Discount agreed for poor quality of hidey house, shelf and wooden bridge
On the plus side the cage is a fantastic size for a Syrian hamster, The base and the wired section arrived undamaged. The main niggles were: firstly, the hidey house in the picture is not the same as the one sent. The hidey house was poorly sanded and had rough edges making it easy to splinter. Secondly, the upper shelf was planed upside down meaning that if I had wanted the cage layout in the picture this would have made the shelf slide out and fall to the bottom. Thirdly, the wooden bridge was broken and not fit for purpose. Amazon have agreed to give a 20% discount.

Syrian Heaven
Perfect for my daughter's syrian hamster! Big enough to run around in and the bridges help our hamster, who hardly uses her exercise wheel. Downside is the not-so-easy access to clean. You have to take the whole top off which means unhooking the bridges etc - apart from that, I cant fault it 😁
