Q: Using a caliper one reviewer shows a thickness of 4mm. The listing says 8mm. Which is it?

Hi there, The quick answer is that when we manufacture the carpet we use an 8mm gauge for the tensile, therefore the carpet is 8mm thick, these are the industry standards. Now if you are using a caliper and apply pressure on it, the caliper can show 4mm because every carpet is compressible, therefore a carpet advertised as 4mm, using the caliper and applied pressure can show 1mm, and you will find this true for every trailer bunk carpet on the market. The real test to assess our quality will be, to get our carpet and the cheaper version to compare them side to side, and run simple tests such as holding a flashlight behind the carpet to check its density, or to see the size difference, the textile strength, the backing quality, our carpet has also UV inhibitors to prolong the lifetime use. We will soon release a comparison video with the cheaper versions, so we can demonstrate to our customers that our quality is much superior. Hi Benjamin, Thanks for asking, we recommend that the carpet needs to be 1ft longer than the bunk boards, so you have 6 inches of carpet on each end to wrap the board. So in your case, you will need a 14ft x 1ft carpet, which unfortunately at the moment we don't provide.

12" wide carpet is for a 2 x 6 (1 1/2" x 5 1/2" actual) wood bunk. You will end up with about a 2 1/2" gap (approximately) on the bottom of the bunk so the water can drain. Good luck.
