So much better than the lampshade
Ok, yea, I know. I gave it 4 stars overall but 5 out of 5 for the features ratings. Let me explain..The collar is great, it’s so much better than the lampshade type collars.. for the dog. However, because the collar doesn’t cover your dogs muzzle like the traditional collar, your dog maybe able to still reach their wound. Our boy, for example, had had the snip and a small hernia repair and had two incisions and a fair amount of his abdomen shaved. Unless we make sure the collar is fully inflated the boy boy can, with a little effort reach his itchy bits. He has also learnt that he can rotate the collar placing the gap where the strap connects the 2 ends of the do-nut at the bottom allows him more movement, so again he can reach to have a lick. He has also on 2 occasions removed the collar with a bit of vigorous rolling and pushing with his front paws. The last 2 issues I mention would maybe resolved if the buster was attached to the dogs normal collar or if you threaded a scarf or something through the loops on the inside of the buster, but you may also find that this involved having to put the dogs collar a notch tighter or the scarf or tie a bit tighter than their collar, which I’m not happy to do. Also note the fixing loops are not Velcro they are sewn in place so can’t be used with any type of buckle-less collar. The buster does loose a little air over time so needs a puff or two occasionally to get back to fully inflated, but this is easily done and the valve is hidden under a zip so is protected from muck and damage. Our boy is a fairly slim, 30kg, collie lab cross and the large buster is only just large enough to fix in place leaving about an inch between the two ends of the collar, but the Velcro strap is plenty long enough and stays firmly attached despite our boys antics. The collar’s cover appears durable, the boy has given it a good grinding into the garden, he’s scratched at it and even the corners on the ends a bit of a gnawing with no damage, and is easily wiped down.So to sum it up. The dog seems fairly happy and comfortable to wear the buster, he can eat and drink fairly much as usual. The collars durable and easy to use, but it’s not foolproof and can be defeated. Also, while you shouldn’t really just put any post injury collar on and not observe it or the dog regularly, the buster probably means you need to pay a little more attention to your dog than you might with the lampshade type. But in my opinion the extra comfort and ease of wearing for the dog outweighs the extra vigilance needed.

Sturdy, easy to fit.
My German Shepherd recently had a large cyst removed from the middle of its flank. A rather long cut with stitches that needed to heal.Rather than the usual cone of shame that with a large dog would knock against every door frame I took a chance and looked at the inflatable buster. It was a little difficult to blow up but easy and quick to fit. Appeared comfortable for my pet, could eat and drink easily. Worked and prevented her licking her healing incision. If the op had been maybe further back towards her thigh then she is dextrous enough to reach.Definitely for us worth every penny and would recommend. Hopefully won't have to use again.

Didn't work for front paw
I got this to stop my dog from licking his injured front paw. I fully inflated the collar and put it on my dog happily thinking I had solved the problem and how he was looking adorable wearing a life buoy. Almost instantly my dog reached down and started licking his front paw again :/ so it may work for the body but not front paws. He's back to wearing the cone of shame again now which serves it's purpose but a little annoying because it turns him into a little jcb when he goes out digging up the garden with it.

Looking Comfortable but Easily Removable By The Dog
Looks a lot more comfortable for the family French Bulldog than conventional cone. From a conventional cone he had on we could se he was getting a bit sore with it on. This item without any sharpe edges gave him a lot more cushion. Stopped him getting to any of the areas he wasn't allowed to touch pretty well. The only down side is that with a cone the do is more aware of how big it is and how big or small a gaps they can get through. While our dog was wearing this he seemed to bump into a lot more things. He was aware that he was wearing it but because of the size of it, didn't know how far it protruded out and how much less space he had around himOn the odd occasion he could just about get it off if he tried hard enough as the Velcro didn't seem too strong. So even though it is more comfortable with this collar, he could sometimes get it off which wasn't too much of a concern with us as someone is always around him but if left alone would be slightly worried that another dog could do the same thing

Does what it says on the tin!
As the large plastic cone the vet provided following our guy's op lasted less than 24 hours, it did not seem like a wise idea to seek a comparable replacement. An Amazon search returned this one, and we're all very grateful - this does substantially less damage to the house than the excessively large plastic offering, and it seems to be much more comfortable for our boy than the aforementioned, more like a cushion around his neck than a torture / punishment device. The material seems to be quite durable, and the size / placement of the collar is adequate in preventing access to the area that used to house his "danglies," which is about as much as one can expect from an inflatable collar. With it taking up less space in his head area, it also allows our boy to access his food / water bowl independently (before we were having to hold them up for him) and to sniff around before relieving himself (previously, his inability to do so resulted in his holding it in until he could do so no longer - inevitably, this happened to occur on my kitchen floor,) so it's probably an investment in the money I've saved on Zoflora and redcorating!!Size wise, we went for the XL for our fairly average sized male Rottweiler. This appears to fit quite comfortably, although there doesn't appear to be an awful lot of extra room, if he were a little bit bigger. I would definitely recommend taking advantage of the loops inside for a collar to ensure the security of the collar, as I'm not entirely confident that the velcro alone would achieve this (indeed, I don't necessarily think it's supposed to!)

Tough & effective
Bought for an Airedale who had been gnawing his tail. He wore the Buster for a week until the wound cleared up. Proved effective in preventing him from getting to the wound and is made of a tough nylon fabric which is very durable. Good value for money.
