Great camera
Very Impressed so far with this camera. I upgraded from the old 400d that I have had for quite a few years and the quality leap in the photographs produced is very good indeed. The touch screen interface is brilliantly thought out and intuitive, within minutes I was changing apertures and shutter speeds with a swipe of a finger. The kit lens is far better quality than the one I received when I originally purchased the 400D and is in fact a very useable product. All my accessories from my old EOS camera fit and work fine with the new body (lenses, flashes etc) but the battery is different so I can't keep my old battery as a spare and the memory card system has changed from the old compact flash system to the more popular SD standard. The camera does not come with an SD card so make sure you order one otherwise you'l have a camera with no way of storing any photographs. I purchased a reasonably priced average 32gb card off amazon for about a tenner and it is fast enough and big enough for my needs. This body has an "APS" sized sensor as apposed to the "Full Frame" sensor in high priced more "Professional" EOS bodies like the 5D but these bodies are more than triple the price at least. The APS sized sensor actually has some benefits over the "Full Frame" ones if you are considering wildlife photography because all the lenses crop by a factor of x1.4 which means you get closer to the action for less money. Ideal if you are on a tight budget :). The camera has various shooting modes which range from a fully automatic "pick up and click" mode which requires no thought whatsoever, through a fast "sports" mode with focus tracking and 5 frames per second shooting bursts, "Portrait" mode for warm skin tones. "Landscape" mode for lush vistas... all the way to fully "manual" mode where everything from shutter speed, aperture and ISO light sensitivity are fully controllable... plus various other other modes in between. I have not really tried the movie recording side of the camera because i've always been of the opinion that if you want to film decent movies then buy a movie camera not a stills camera. I have taken a few clips and the results are crisp and sharp with fairly decent sound from the onboard stereo microphone. Overall the 700D is a very creative, versatile piece of kit at the top end of Cannon's amateur EOS DSLR range. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone wanting to take photography fairly seriously but can't warrant spending thousands on a professional body. I think it will take quite a while to outgrow the capabilities of this body and expect it will last me about 4 years before technology makes it feel a little dated. Well worth a purchase :)

good quality and control for this price
What can I say, I don't think you'll find another DSLR of this quality for such a low price. Personally I prefer a fixed 50 mm lens ( which goes to f 1.8), but if you want this zoom as well, which is quite versatile, it's cheaper to buy this package and add on the 50 mm than to buy the body and both lenses separately. You have a wide range of lenses to add on, shooting in RAW, complete manual control by aperture or shutter speed, as well as manual- or auto-focus, yet a very good result on full automatic light settings. I don't think anyone but a professional photojournalist or portrait photographer will need more than this, and as I say, you'll have trouble matching this in any other brand for under £1,000.

Fantastic camera
This is one wonderful camera. My last SLR was a (film) Minolta from the 90s, but with the advent of digital I stopped using it and bought a digital 'point-and shoot' Olympus. After 12 years faithful service the Olympus died and, still missing the power and creativity of an SLR, I decided to look for a new one. So, whilst far from being from a pro photographer, I'm not a complete noob either. I was looking for something with full manual control combined with a fair bit of hand-holding. After reading countless reviews and watching hundreds of YT videos, I chose this...and what a good choice it is proving to be! There are really only one or two competitors in this price range and I must admit that I did a fair bit of procrastinating. But, my final decision was crystal-clear. This is perhaps no longer one of the latest and greatest 'upper-entry level' DSLRs when comparing numbers alone. However, when viewed as a complete, user-friendly package, it is, in my view, still unbeatable. A few pros and cons for you... PROS ++Probably the most user-friendly albeit complex tech I've ever owned ++Incredibly easy to use; switch it on, select full-auto, take a picture and a beautiful image will be displayed on the monitor ++Full built-in support to help and guide you with every selection and choice (switch-off the help if you wish) ++The design of the camera simply encourages you to move from full automation to full manual control in small (or large if you wish) stages ++So good to use, you'll find yourself picking it up all the time and taking more and more shots of everything from cats to carnations ++The screen, wow, so good, so intuitive, touch-sensitive, clever, you can focus and take shots with you finger if you like! 'Fully-articulated' ie flips-out and swivels, very, very useful, I can't now imagine being without it ++High-quality, silent, fast-focusing 'kit' lens ++I didn't buy this camera for its video capabilities but I can tell you that crisp 1080p video is available at the flick of a switch with decent sound from the built-in stereo microphones. You can plug an external mic in too ++Great ergonomics and build ++Good-quality bundled Canon software including a disc of photography lessons and a program to organise and edit your RAW files ++Lenses; tons of aftermarket lenses are available at reasonable prices CONS --I can't really think of anything at the moment. There's no wi-fi or GPS so you may want to bear that in mind. You'll need to budget for a bag, memory-card and whatever else takes your fancy I'm thrilled with this camera and I thoroughly recommend it

I love this Camera, Perfect for beginner Astrophotography
I ordered the Canon EOS 700D Digital SLR Camera after getting into Astrophotography, although it is a cropped frame camera, it had all the features I needed to take some amazing photos of the night sky. The photo in this review was taken with only this camera fitted with an ultra-wide angle lens and a tripod I also bought on Amazon. The camera has the Fast EOS lens fitment ring and a live view, touch screen which also folds out. It also accepts 3rd party rechargeable batteries which I have a few of. The settings are easy to follow even if you know nothing about cameras, it has an automatic photo mode which basically allows for a point and shoot option for complete beginners. The Auto-focus is fast and sharp. I currently have a 128gb SD card in this camera which is more than enough space for shooting in raw mode for an extended period. I terms of hardiness, I have used this camera for several hours on end throughout the night in the middle of winter, I have also used in in very humid locations and by the coast in Mauritius without issue. I have found that it doesn't overly suffer from too many hot pixels either so calibration photos come out well. There are also plenty of lens adapters that this camera accepts to allow older and non-EOS lenses to be attached which is nice. Other than not being a full frame sensor, there is nothing I would change about this camera.

Cheated
Fuming! We bought a camera from Amazon with the promise of £50 off via Canon. We found out today that it is a 'grey market' camera that does not qualify for the deal. Angry that Canon wait until the day after the deal expires to tell us this and fuming that Amazon have sold us a camera under false pretences. BTW the camera is great .. just left with a sour taste in the mouth

700D: A Videographer's Review
Before you read on, you should know that I use this for videography so this whole review will be based from a videographer stand point. I bought this as my first 'proper' camera to use for shooting all sorts of videos, ranging from events and festivals to interviews and lectures. Also known as the T5i, this camera is an amazing starter camera for anyone looking to get into videography, the menu functions are easy to follow and the actual picture quality is great. Be aware though that because of the simplicity of the camera, some functions aren't as easy to tweak to specifics such as the white balance. The camera isn't great for low-light shooting either so if you're planning to do night-club or night time shoots then this isn't the camera for you, though I have used it in those situations, I had to crank the ISO up to the point where the footage looked noisy and was almost unusable. Having said that, for almost every other situation, it's been absolutely brilliant! The standard kit lens that comes with it doesn't give you very shallow depth of field, so don't expect that! If you want something like that then I would recommend the Canon 50mm f1.8, which'll also let in more light and be better for those darker situations. In the right light, the lens if nice and versatile, give you an 18mm wide or a 55mm close up. I've had the camera for just over a year now and can honestly say that I don't regret buying it at all, in my opinion it's the most adaptable beginner camera too. Unless you're willing to up your budget another couple of hundred, I would say that this is the camera for you! If you have any other questions about the camera, just give me a shout, I'd be happy to help!

Happy with price and quality
Canon are the only brand I use for SLRs. This one had good reviews and hit my price point and image quality needs. Pleased with the standard 18-55m kit lens that comes with it but I think for any serious photographers you will probably want a prime lens but not essential. This also worked well with my Sigma 70-200mm lens with Canon fit.

Amazing
Put simply, this camera is amazing. For a beginner to photography and minimal previous experience using an SLR, I found that I could easily pick this up and use competently. Positives of this camera in my experience are as follows: - Easy and intuitive to use, making it a great entry level, and beginner product - Not too heavy, allowing for you to carry around effortlessly - Capable of taking beautiful photos and video - Good quality feel. Does not feel cheap - Very customizable setting, allowing you to adjust an image to your liking (ISO, WB, aperture etc.) - Good battery life, have managed multiple time lapse shots on one fully charged battery Some of the negatives in my experience are as follows: - Lens feels quite plasticky and cheap - Auto focus seems slow and unresponsive at times, so I always use manual focus - No in-built time lapse function (I bought a remote shutter for relatively cheap, but it is to my understanding that there is a free bit of software you could alternatively download onto the camera) - Dust covers are frustrating and get in the way when trying to plug cables into the slots Overall, I would recommend this camera as it is a great beginner level product.
