IT'S A MUST-READ!!
The story opens with DCI Erika Foster and DI Kate Moss inspecting a large suitcase with a dismembered dead body of a man inside. There's no ID and his face is unrecognizable.DI James Peterson has been on medical leave from an incident of being shot in the stomach. James and Erika were an item - but now they're just friends. The Police find another dismembered body of a woman in a suitcase. She was killed the same way as the man. The Police identify the two bodies: Thomas Hoffman and Charlene Selby. Erika and Moss visit the families to give the bad news.Max and Nina met while working at a Chip Shop and ended up getting fired. They start seeing more and more of each other. Max is a hot-temper and violent man. Nina stays locked in their flat...Max has the only key; he doesn't want her to leave. As they continue their investigation - two more bodies are found in suitcases - their bodies dismembered. They are identified - they are all connected - but how? What does Max and Nina have to do with it? Who killed these people? It's a race against time - Max and Nina have kidnapped Commander Paul Marsh's twin girls - Mia and Sophie. How will they find the girls? Erika and Moss are frustrated because they have no leads. What happens next took me by surprise! As the story continues, the pieces start to come together. Max and Nina are on a collision course and there's no way out for them. Will Erika and Moss catch them before it's too late? You'll have to read it to find out!Robert has created a story full of suspense and thrills! The characters are believable and people you care about. Erika is a complicated woman - all she knows is work - she has a difficult time maintaining personal relationships. Her relationship with James was rocky so they decide to just be friends. This is Book 5 in the Detective Erika Foster series. I love series books - it's an opportunity to visit with old, dear friends! Robert has created characters that continue to grow and evolve.I highly recommend Cold Blood as well as the other 4 books! They are well-worth reading! You won't be disappointed - I promise!!

First Four Star Rating
This author is kick-ass great! I have read and thoroughly enjoyed all five of the Erika series. They're fast, page-turning, heart pounding thrillers. I mean I'd read until I dropped from exhaustion. What great reads! Thank you 😊The only reason I gave this book four stars was because it was a tad too graphic for me. Graphic in the description and the violence. I actually don't know why, but I was a little repulsed by small portions of this book, enough that I felt the need to say something. The sex and violent descriptors were a bit too much for me. Just see this comment as a caution for the reader.

Intense
This book is filled with surprises and excitement. I had a hard time putting it down. I read deep into the night just waiting for either the next twist, or a brief retrieve for which I could finally put the book down and go to sleep. I can tell, there weren’t many, so be prepared for an intensity that will keep you up at night.A great read!!!

Robert Bryndza rocks it again!
DCI Erika Foster finds a battered, dismembered body washed ashore in a suitcase. Is this related to a female victim found in a second suitcase a few weeks earlier? This book is full of neat touches and the prose is first rate. I especially enjoyed the interviews with characters such as Mariette, someone who needed a little getting to know. Nils gave me the chills. Sliding down a slippery slope and with unexplained allergies at odd times of the year, I couldn’t help wondering if Erika would make her delivery unscathed. The interwoven chapters of Nina and Max are especially intense. We know from the outset that Nina wants to ride shotgun. But just how far will she go to be loved? Because Max’s idea of a relationship doesn’t quite fit the norm. He’s been to hell and back and a return ticket like that is tricky. This is the sort of scary and compelling tale that has its readers watching their rearview mirrors when driving in the dark. Bryndza has created a wonderful character in Erika Foster, a smart, appealing heroine who is as strong as she's tall. But can those long legs outrun the worst of them?Cold Blood is a satisfying example of good storytelling. Robert Bryndza rocks it again!

Sad, Gory and Disturbing
I'm no stranger to this type of novel, nor to the Erika Foster series; however, this one is particularly gruesome. But I guess that's the work of serial killers, right? As for Erika Foster, she's a difficult character to like. At over six feet tall, lanky and underweight -- complimented by a sour disposition -- she copes with the stresses of her detective job and the guilt and grief from the loss of her policeman husband with cigarettes and a penchant for vodka. Detective Inspector Foster is a morose loner with few, if any, friends, family far away in a foreign country, and no social life to speak of. Erika is, in fact, more like a man than a woman. But that's my take on her as a woman myself. The book is interesting but with the predictable tragic ending. There's profanity and the "f-bomb" throughout [which I loathe] but it's not completely permeated with it as in some books. I do appreciate that."Cold Blood" is a good read so I do recommend it if you're a fan of this genre or of the author.

Robert Bryndza has done it again
Robert Bryndza has done it yet again, written yet another fantastic book in the Erika Foster series. This book, number 5, was a gripping tale following the killers really from the birth of their killing through their spree. Of course Erika is there doing her best to catch the killers. There are a number of great storylines in Cold Blood that really help keep the reader fully invested throughout the book. The characterization is fantastic among the regular cast and the new comers.I can not recommend this series high enough and in the past have told all my friends about this and bought them book 1 to assist them in beginning what has become a fantastic roller coaster ride for me. After book 5 I feel this even more strongly and cannot wait to see what Erika gets up to next

Missed the suspense at the end....
2.5 stars (3 because I'm being generous really)Well Robert missed on this one. I've been a fan of the series (overlooking a few faults) and was really excited to get to the end of this one. But it didn't work out for me sadly. The book started off really well and had some really good moments for about 80% of the plotline. But I felt at the end it just fell apart. Good writing and characterization and the book was able to hold on to its suspense for 3/4th of the storyline, but then it just sent sideways. That's the thing with crime fiction. If you don't get a good ending, the earlier plot doesn't matter, the writing doesn't matter, and all one remembers is that it had a bad ending. An okish "skippable" read.

breathtaking
I ran through the first four books and couldn’t wait to start this fifth one. And what a story it turned out to be!Fast paced, but never shallow. And the personalities grow and grow. But bleak. Cold blooded … actually … often very HOT blooded murder. Insanity burbling over logic.Good reading!
