Basic, boring, there are better books
Didn't really need this book after all. Intro to Jazz Piano covers much of what's in here.

Good reference to use with the Jazz Fake Book
I took piano lessons from the age of 6 until the age of 12. I am now 56 years old. I started playing the piano again at 30 years old, but only by ear and not using sheet music. Most recently, I am learning Jazz Piano by ear and also using the Jazz Fake Book. The Fake Book shows the melody line in standard notation, and also the accompanying chords as letter/number symbols i.e. Gm7, D9 etc. This Jazz Chords Book for Piano, shows you exactly which notes on the keyboard are essential for each chord in every key. Turn yourself into a Jazz Piano Player with the help of this book and the Jazz Fake Book.

A great help!
Great book! Helped me learn how to play piano well enough to accompany myself.

A good basic reference
I was a little disappointed in some respects as a little more on the theory of the chords, and some hints on chord progressions would have added to the value. Nonetheless as a simple reference book this works well.

Lots of redundancy
This book isn't a total waste, but if you know scales, then there is a lot of redundancy. It details 30 different chord formations, which is nice. But what would have been a quality 4 page chart, here balloons into a 101 page book, because they show you the SAME formations for every single key including enharmonics. If you just want to learn some cool sounding chords and don't mind the filler, then this book is great. But if you know the major and minor scales, then you don't need to be reminded 12 times how to make a Sus 4 chord. The same tonal structure that makes it a Sus 4 chord in the key of say, C, can be applied to any other key. If you don't know what that means, then go ahead and buy this book, but you'll need another text besides this one which outlines basic theory, or at the very least displays the major and minor scales--which this book, for whatever reason, does not do.
