Simply the cheapest and best media converters for home!
I bought for so that I can oull fiber my new home b/w floors. Initial testing has given me excellent results.Speeds of 90-110MBps (1Gbps) from local Nas transfer via fiber!I can also confirm that the vlan tags are retained when using the media converters!!My topology: cisco switch (hooks up to homelabs, firewall, internet and 4g ingress/exgress [vlan tagged]) the 2 sfp port on this is populated with the sfp from same seller. Fiber cable is connected bw sfp and the media converters. The base-t end of the media converters is hooked up to a switch that untags vlan on certain ports (hooks up to security cam, TV , wifi etc depending on the vlan.)Note: the media converters will work ootb bw each other once an SC fiber cable is attached without needing any configuration!!!Note: ensure you select the correct wavelength when buying the sfp. This is important. The two devices fc port run on 2 different wavelength. Ie: 1310nm/1550nmWhen you buy the sfp, one sfp should be 1310nm/1550nm and the other 1550nm/1310nmThe seller has the sfp in the listing. The device had no indication on what the wavelength is, so it's a bit hard to identify when looking at the device. And the rule with fiber: avoid mixing higherWavelength sfp/media converters with this model, it might burn out the sensors.
