This stuff lights
Fluff the end and this stuff will light of off a lighter flint wheel alone. No fluid needed.

This is the stuff
Cut a little piece off. Shred it. The treated cord make a hot flame, enough to get a little fire started.

softer rod with a weird striker
Striker only has one decent surface to strike and has teeth, no sharp 90 degree. When I used my knife 90 degree spine to scrape it, the alloy just curled off like a feather stick with out any sparks and it took many scrapes of various pressure to achieve ignition.

These little ferrocene rods worked incredibly well
Quality for the price and these rods are small but can throw a big spark!

Inaccurate product description
This rope is NOT 6 mm wide, it is almost twice that width. The ropes will still work to start fires but when you are specifically looking for 6 mm ropes, a larger size will not fit the atomic bear fire wand.

Lights easy and fits inside arrow shaft perfectly
The media could not be loaded. I used an old aluminum arrow shaft as a holder for this rope. I cut a slot in the shaft so I can push the rope forward with my thumb and get the full use out of the rope. Very lightweight at .2 ounces and easily extinguishes the fire when pulled back thru the arrow shaft. I fray the ends and usually get it to light on the first strike of my ferro rod. Works even after getting wet. I carry with the rope pulled back into the shaft so water getting to it is not very likely anyway. The price is right and works better than expected.
