Perfect gift for the Elements enthusiast.
I LOVE the Periodic chart. It's the ingredients for EVERYTHING in our known Universe. When I saw these, I had to have them. The photography is phenomenal. The info is overwhelming. I'll have to check these out again and again, and again. The box had minor damage(corner drop, no biggie) but the cards were perfect. Oh, and the cards flay out to make a graph, mind blown. Super cool. I love this set. Hate its outdated. Might get the book. I'm an adult who enjoys learning at my own pace. This certainly will help to educate and entertain me, as well.

The answer to baseball cards for a chemistry fan!
I got these for my 8yo son who loves the periodic table. The photos are lovely and the information side of each card is great! There are lots of details you won't immediately notice - the fact that you can stack them in order and fan them out to see graphs on the side, and symbol/text color different on radioactive elements for example. These are like baseball cards but for a chemistry fan. We laid them out on the floor to make the periodic table and there is a card with other suggestions of how to use and arrange them. Great gift for science fans!

Very nice
My nephew has two copies of the The Elements book, so I thought the flashcards would be fun. Not so much. He was excited to get them, but the book is more mobile and can be used for reading in bed and taking into restaurants. I'm thinking of bringing the box into the car...maybe in the contained environment they will get more use. The cards are beautiful and bright...these could easily be used for educational games.

A must!
A wealth of information in 126 cards, The Photographic Card Deck of the Elements is a necessity for any person that loves (or hates) science. The front of each card contains its element's atomic number, atomic weight, atomic symbol and name, as well as beautiful imagery associated with the element. On the back of the card, you can find a plethora of valuable information from density and melting/boiling points to electron shells and atomic radius. Theodore Gray also includes interesting facts about each of the 118 elements, helping the reader to relate the atom to something a little bit more tangible. I would venture to say that you probably don't know much about neodymium, but Gray helps us understand why it is important to us - "Discovered 1885 in Austria Neodymium-iron-boron alloys are the basis for the most powerful permanent magnets, used in headphones, disk drives, and motors, and commonly known as neodymium magnets or rare earth magnets." Without this element, your computer would not be able to store information for your use! These reference cards will be worth their weight in gold for any high school or college student and I highly recommend it for any person that loves to learn! The Photographic Card Deck of the Elements Flashcards: With Big Beautiful Photographs of All 118 Elements in the Periodic Table eliminates the time it takes to pile through books and webpages by placing relevant technical and usage information on easy and fun to read reference cards.

Beautifully Done and Informative
We’ve owned the companion book to these cards now for years. About 6 months ago, my 6 yo son started carrying it around, slowly memorizing the elements and their atomic numbers. I figured this would be a really neat way for him to practice and even test himself. The way this publisher handles each element is fantastic, showing pictures, uses, and the scientific information unique to it - atomic weights, melting/boiling points, percentage of Earth’s crust. This would be a very nice set of cards for any science enthusiast or chemistry/physics student. My son just LOVES it, and I learn a lot also.
