Simple, small, inexpensive, but still gets the job done.
I needed a mechanic stand of some kind to use with my Specialized Rockhopper (2010) for basic tuning, cleaning, and adjustments, since I was sick of dealing with the bike upside down. I didn't want to go and spend the $200 on a Park Tools mechanic stand, also considering I wouldn't have the space for one in my condo if I wanted to. I looked at the other Park Tools knockoffs that were in the sub-fifty-dollar range, but their reviews were just horrible, and unsurprisingly so. I considered making my own design out of gas piping or PVC, but then I came across this little beauty. It's tiny and inexpensive, but sturdy enough for the types of repairs that I'll be doing (i.e. basic derailleur adjustments, cogset cleaning, chain cleaning, etc.). Once the bike chainstays are settled into the little industrial plastic brackets, and the included rubber O rings are fastened over top of each side, the bike really has nowhere to go and all of the moving parts of the bike move without interference. You can even pick the bike up with the stand still attached and move it around if needed. I rarely purchase items that don't have reviews, but I lucked out on this one and hope other people might give it a go because of my experience with the item. The only things that I might have changed were to add rubber feet to the bottom of the curved metal legs, to help keep damage down on the powder coating/paint and avoid rust, and possibly widen the base slightly to increase the stability even more. Those are slight mods that don't affect the existing functionality of the item, but would likely improve it overall. I won't detract points from it, considering it's likely at it's current inexpensive pricepoint by keeping it to the basics.I'm very happy with my purchase, since I would have spent this much dough on piping and supplies for my own DIY version that I planned to make from scratch. Plus, I saved a bunch of time.FYI: The plastic chainstay brackets that are pictured in black here are actually red on mine: Not that it matters, but I think it looks better, and quite possibly helps with viewing the alignment when lowering the bike into place. Probably a good change from the pictured item.

Works with 29er
I needed something to hold my bike up while I clean and lube the chain and make adjustments. This stand is just tall enough to keep the rear wheel of my Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 29er off the ground and balanced so I can turn the pedals without any interference. The construction is adequately stout for the purpose despite the fact that the joint between the black steel pipe and the red plastic hinge is pretty sloppy until you put the weight of the bike on it, then it locks up securely. There is sufficient adjustment in two planes to align the cradles with the bike's chainstays. I set them all the way out and parallel to the bike's frame for mine and it lines up perfectly. I tried a similar stand at a LBS that clamped onto the rear axle and that was a little tricky to get on and off and didn't provide enough height for the larger bike. With this stand you just set it in and lift it out; very simple. It comes with rubber bands to secure the chainstay in the cradle but I don't think I will need to use them. I put some garden hose around the bottom to prevent the part that contacts the ground from getting scratched up and to provide a better friction surface. So far I have adjusted my rear derailuer and cleaned and lubed the chain without no problems. You have to be a little careful to keep it balanced side-to-side while you turn the pedals by hand but I got used to that quickly. I suspect it would be more stable with a smaller wheeled bike since it says on the package it is designed for 20" to 27" wheel sizes. I probably wouldn't have bought it if I had known that (no mention of that online) but I decided to try it anyway after reading the package and it works for my purpose. It is great for bikes that don't have a kickstand and for simple maintenance and repair. This stand is a good solution for what I wanted and the price was very reasonable.

Great for it's intended use.
I gave this a 5 star rating due to what its intended for, a regular bicycle. With that being said if you're getting this to use with a bike with a gas engine on it i would look for something a little sturdier and heavier built. I used this to adjust the carburetor on my bike engine while running it with the back wheel off the ground, it worked but was wobbly. Otherwise good product for it's intended use.

A little tight fit for frame chainstay,a little loose.
Like the stand, has little spacing for rear gearshift cables, barely allows, when properly fit to chainstay, pedals to rotate.Essential for tuning derailleurs.Works well at that, extremely stable, slight woble,so don't forget to apply o-rings to tighten to chainstay.Fits well, just a little headachy to place onto frame.Shouldn't loosen frame holders that much, otherwise they slip, also loosen, extend, then tighten frame into position before attempting to mount.A little pricey, but Iberra is a great goto for tools and accessories.Save money tuning bicycles, and you will always be ready to hit the road.
