Assembly requires concentration, but it's flexible
The assembly isn't difficult, except perhaps the final step of setting the width. However, it does require concentration and the instructions have a few mistakes.Top tips:Split it into stages: familiarise with manual and count the pieces. Install the hinges using the drilling guide. Finally add the gates. The manual splits into two sections, fit between or fit against walls/door. You just need to follow one section.Make sure the dilled holes in The gate panels are on the bottom side. The instructions note the drill guides wrongly in the zoomed in pictures. The full size pic has A/B the right way.Have two people for the last step, where you install the gate panels one to install and one to get the stuff you keep dropping down the stairs. I'm not joking! Every time you drop an item you have to start again with the gate because you cant open it without it falling apart untill the last steps. The 1.5 cm gap is a minimum, you might end up with a big gap. You make the gap bigger and smaller mostly with where the hinges attach to the gates. The flexibility in the cross over section is minimal

So complicated to put together I had a full breakdown
Product looks sturdy and good quality. Unfortunately it is so complicated to put together and the instructions are just unlabelled pictures. I've been at it for hours and still can't get things to line up properly in order to get it to fit together. I've put together loads of baby gates and flatpack furniture in the past so I know it's not entirely a me problem.Today I was gonna spend an hour or so putting the baby gate together then revising for my exam. 4 hours later I've done no revision and I'm dehydrated from stress crying. Do not recommend

Best for awkward space
I had an awkward wall/bannister at the bottom of my stairs- with the wall stopping 4 inches shorter to the left of the staircase. This worked a treat albeit not installed 100% as suggested but as it was for the bottom stairs this wasn’t such a huge issue.

This is our second purchase
Bought one for the downstairs to stop our new puppy going upstairs. Bought a 2nd for the loft. Love the fact that you don't have to step through it like most gates.

The instructions are vague
My husbands comments:"I've put together car engines less complicated. The instructions are very misleading. It was easier not following them (Side A and B switched). Also the parts you'd expect to not be adjustable, are.. which makes for a rickety construction. I doubt it would stop a child anyway."I checked after and he wasn't wrong, it's awful to close or open and doesn't feel secure.Advise against buying product
