cheaply made; hence the low price but still function ok. Some types of cork are very stiff and this type of puller will not be able to pull the cork out as the prongs will bend.

Not happy
Plastic cover was cracked and it looks used!

Garbage.
About as useful as a pen in terms of opening wine. The blades are thick and cut into the cork when inserted; this shoves either bits of cork or the entire thing into the wine. I finally succeeded in wriggling the cork out after about 10 minutes of ginger back-and-forth. I like the idea of this type of cork-remover, but the execution here falls flat.

Poor quality results in useless cork destroyer
Sadly this particular model, or at least the one I received, was not nearly as good as the one, a friend borrowed ... well it is a cork thief after all, so no surprise that it got nicked!!Anyway, this version was badly stamped/formed on the prongs with excess metal, which snagged on the corks, making it hard to slip them without pushing the cork in, or tearing the cork ... filled those off, careful not to damage the teflon coating on the main prongs, but the angle means they stick into more corks than they pull out ... and I'm in the wine trade, so use these a lot!Remedy, was to buy this version:[...]It works like a dream, and was out the box a better made item, with the angle of the prongs allowing a good slip inside the cork/bottle and has not failed to do the job. It's essential for old corks which have dried out or have become stuck to the glass. So Nill points for the Vacu-Vin version, buy the monopol instead, works a treat.

It isn't great for removing corks from wine bottles
This device is quite nicely presented, but isn't great for removing corks from wine bottles. I wouldn't recommend relying on this, and would keep a traditional corkscrew on handI've had two problems:Firstly, as you push the the blades down the sides of the cork they usually remove tiny bits of cork on the way and drop them into the bottle. That's not very nice to drink, and while it might be okay to pick the bits out with your fingers if it's an ordinary £5 bottle, I think it's unacceptable for finer wines.Secondly, depending on the fit of the cork in the bottle, it is difficult to push the blades in without also pushing the cork into the bottle. If you care about your wine, or have a bottle of wine that you care about, then steer clear of this gadget. But if you don't mind tiny bits of cork in your glass, and don't care about the cork going in as long as the wine comes out, then go ahead and buy one!

You need this when a cork crumbles
What do you do when your cork breaks and stars to crumble? Insert this puller on either side of the cork, wiggle and pull et voila. No more cork in your wine and then having to filter it, which normally occurs at inconvenient times. Another essential tool in the wine armamentarium.

Low quality for low price
You get what you pay for...this product is not fantastic but it still manages to do its job if you are lucky. The tongs are too thick to truly get it in between the cork and bottle lip. So what happens is that it breaks the sides of the cork as you pierce it through. If you are lucky then it only happens at the top with a tougher cork. With a softer cork you might end up with cork debris in the wine. The pulling motion is not great as the handle is actually too small and restrictive. I have small ladies hands and the metal on the handle is finished badly so when i put my 3 middle fingers through, I scratch it on the rough metal. Overall I should have known that you get what you pay for. A cheap product, a bad finish and some significant design flaws.

Be aware
We used to own a cork 'puller' like this in the 80's but lost it somehow. So delighted to find this one. However it doesn't seem to work with 'plastic' corks. And as all the wines in our price range are either screw capped or fake corks then this has become worthless. Shame.
