Moen 1222 One-Handle Posi-Temp Faucet Cartridge Replacement for Moen Tub Shower and Shower Only Configurations, Brass and Plastic

I ended up returning this unit as it turned out that MOEN offers a free replacement. I simply returned the old cartridge to Home Hardware and they provided me with a free replacement. I was told that this program exists because MOEN offers lifetime warranty on their products.

In the end, the cartridge worked perfectly. Installation however was problematic.For some reason the new cartridge is just about 1/64"-1/32"inch longer than the original, and would not allow the retaining clip to slide down behind the cartridge grooves into the bottom of the plumbing fixture.To hold both the new and old cartridges in your hand you would swear that they were both same length, but apparently they are not.I tried a few tentative thumps with a piece of wood and a small hammer, but decided that was a good way to pop some soldered joints loose and cause a major catastrophe so I didn't pursue that option for long.I overcame this problem after several trips to plumbing stores to ascertain that "yes, this is the correct cartridge for your application".The way I won was to take a tiny screwdriver and push the bottom tips of the clip in just in far enough so the they would slip all the way down into the space allotted to them.One plumbing place even recommended that I have a plumber replace the entire unit, which would involve tearing out my entire walk in shower unit etc. $$$$$Sure was a relief when I found a solution!Quite happy with my purchase, just be forewarned of the fitting problem unless you have one of the newer showers with the exact same cartridge.

Just recently my old shower cartridge and handle adaptor started to break down after 7-8 years of use.Installing the new shower cartridge and handle was simple enough and everything works better than I remembered!My only gripe is no where on the product page does it mention including silicone grease, so I bought it separately. When the package arrived, to my surprise it did come silicone grease after all. Sigh.Besides that everything works great. Very pleased with the results.

Day before Thanks Giving my Moen shower broke, we could not get it to close fully, and applying bit pressure broke the inside of the mechanism. Ended up closing main waterline valve since my house does not have valves for shower outlets. Lowes had this exact this item for $79, and Amazon for $51, and earliest I can et from both was Tuesday morning. so I opted here.The part itself is very easy to install, I saw an video (from ramonasplumber from 2010) and followed his steps verbatim. 15 min later my showerhead is working flawlessly, and my kids can turn it with their pinkies. This is indeed a precision engineered part.

will buy again in about 5 years when the one i just bought breaks. thats just the way it is.fits like a glove, comes with grease and tool to undo previous cartridge and install the new one.arrived the following day, highly recommended if your moen bathroom handle becomes SUPER HARD to turn OFF (which will eventually break and u wont be able to turn off the water unless u do so from the main line).
