Dear Love, I Hate You: Easton High

Mild spoilers ahead.
This isn’t an enemies to lovers romance.Aveena and Xavier knew each other as kids. He picked on her once a week at play dates until they were eight and then they didn’t see each other again until freshman year, didn’t even speak until senior year. There wasn’t any bullying or anything even remotely close to being enemies. The flash back scenes were a little frustrating. The author made it a point to label it as “THEN” and even had Aveena speaking and thinking like a child, but then talked past tense and made comments about her child brain, etc. making it come off as two different time lines. It’s also weird that she switched between calling her father, papa, daddy, father, and dad, all in the same paragraph. People don’t do that. Kids especially don’t do that. There are some contradicting details and some confusion throughout the book as well.- Aveena’s last name is constantly being changed in the book.- It mentions several times that Aveena has a tattoo on her shoulder, but then it’s in her collar bone, and then it’s on her shoulder. Constantly switching.- Don’t even get me started on Aveena’s mom. It’s constantly back and forth.Xavier’s reason for hurting Aveena so brutally instead of communicating with her is inexcusable, makes zero sense, and honestly, Aveena just forgiving him pretty much ruined this book. All of the back and forth was already a headache, but the unnecessary drama didn’t help build the story. It’s also completely unrealistic and unbelievable that a teenage girl would give up all of her hopes, dreams, and her future for some boys mom who is a predator that broke the law.Even still though, it’s not an enemies to lovers romance and this book could have been completely in 200 less pages.

So good
So it’s very high school BUT so much better. Vee is in her senior year and is apart of the popular group thanks to her bestie Dia and non-committed relationship. She doesn’t really fit in and people in the group like to remind her of it. Xav is one of those people but only because he’s going through so much secretly and misery loves company. So Vee works for the library and while there writes an angry girl letter to her teacher but it’s never meant to be seen by anyone. She accidentally leaves it in the poetry book she was reading but when she gets it back the letter has comments from a mystery guy. They go back and forth for awhile and they share lots of deep dark secrets. That’s all fine because they have a pact to stay anonymous but when they find out who the other is things start falling apart. This story is so good, the characters are great and the drama is oh ma gosh it takes you in an emotional roller coaster. There is also lots of steaminess and it is an HEA. Can’t wait for the next one.

I Hate you!!!
I can totally relate to Vee. This book starts out with her making an anger letter to her English teacher. She wasn’t writing the letter to be whiny or anything, she just needed to vent and get her frustrations out. So she wrote a letter that was never supposed to be seen. But then she forget it in the poetry book she was working with. That’s where Xavier comes in. Or should I say Zak. Throughout the beginning of the book, Zak and Love become the unlikeliest of pen pals. They write letters back and forth and leave them in this poetry book. But all things come to an end. They eventually found out who each other were and Xavier and Aveena had to come to terms with the fact that they were unknowingly falling for each other.I loved watching them grow and share secrets and confessions with each other. But then someone blackmails Xav. And he ends up breaking Vee’s heart. The 2 of them have to fight hard to make sure they end up where they need to be.I am forever going to love Aveena and Xavier’s story ♥️

A wonderful story
This was my first high school romance that I have read in a while and I loved it! the tension and the anxiety I got with the plot twists were intense and at one point I almost cried because it was a heart wrenching confession (but it worked out in the end). I loved the letter exchange between Zac and Love (and the exchanges between who they were in outside of the letters). Overall, it was wonderful story and I would definitely reread it.

Love the mystery pen pal
I enjoyed this quick high school romance. Not true enemies- just kids with a bumpy history. I enjoyed the mystery letters and texts. I loved Xav and Vee. Xav could definitely be cruel, but also damn sweet. I enjoyed the other characters too -Dia, Ash, Finn and Theo. I hope the possibilities of future books about these characters (including updates on Zac and Love) are explored!

Amazing!
Wow this book blew me away!!! It was such a crazy emotional ride that I never wanted to get off of. From the first words I was hooked. I absolutely loved Xavier so so much. Well I did when he wasn't being an idiot. If you haven't read this yet you are missing out. I can't wait to read Dia's story. Especially because I know there will be more of Aveena in it!

What a great story, I practically devoured it in one sitting, I loved the plot, the evolution of the relationship. Xav and Aveena are perfect, swooned so hard with them, Vee is such a brave and loyal heroine and Xav, gahh he is beyond sweet. I loved their messages and letters and their scenes together, it is a must read!

I need a 10 star option
This book was phenomenal. I enjoy that it wasn't necessarily constant expected moments. It wasn't cookie cutter. I didn't think of other books and I certainly didn't know what was about to happen every moment of the book. I cried I laugh and I loved. This was amazing.Or should I say....PS I hate you. 💙💙💙

Anonymous confessions that start a ripple effect
DEAR LOVE, I HATE YOUEliah GreenwoodPOV:DUAL Aveena and XavierThis is a first read for me from this author.I read this quite quickly. Fast paced. Emotional, drama. There's always that one girl, usually a cheerleader that wants all attention on her.But that's not our heroine. Our heroine is the quiet, not so social, invisible wallflower, she's counting on getting that scholarship, it's her only way out of town and away from her mother and sister who made it big when she was younger. Their Mother treats Aveena like Ashley's personal 'gofer', chauffeur, assistant and general dogsbody, instead of her daughter. But they've never been close. She was her daddy's girl. But he past away years previously. So Aveena feels lonely, having one close friend, Diamond 'Dia'. One day she vents her thoughts down on paper, then accidentally leaving it in a book.Xavier is the captain of the schools basketball team. Mr popular, dating said cheerleader. When he finds out his family life isn't all roses, he acts out resulting in detention. Finding an anonymous letter in a book during detention he replies to it.Aveena finds the letter and shocked that someone's replied to it. She then replies back, in return getting a reply back, this keeps going on for a few weeks then it progresses on to texts. Making a pact that they never try to find out who the other is. They've narrowed it down to that they're in the same year, run with the same crowd, or have friends in common.Until Aveena accidentally finds out who her secret pen pal is.Does she call him out over it?Or just keep up the pretence? Can she keep her emotions under control? What if when Xavier finds out that it's been Aveena, the girl who he bullied when they were kids that he's been talking to, and she's been right under his nose this whole time?Xavier doesn't do love, he doesn't even like his own 'girlfriend'.But the girl he's been talking to intrigues him. When disaster strikes, will they save one another?Or sacrifice themselves to save the other? How can a few confessions from one anonymous letter start such chaos?

Awesome
Aveena has always been a wallflower. Practically invisible, living in her little sister’s shadow, and she has carried that into the rest of her life. She wears baggy clothes, has no interest in hair and makeup, and shies away from all things social.Until one day when she writes a raging letter to her teacher - that she never intends to deliver - and the letter goes missing. Only to reappear the next day covered in corrections, and with a snarky note on the back to boot. Completely incensed, she replies, and thus begins the start of a weird and wonderful penpalship (it’s a word, I’ve decided).Aveena finds herself developing feelings for her anonymous penpal (nicknamed Zac) whilst in the real world she’s also rekindling a childhood crush on the school star basketball player, Xavier. As she and Xavier grow closer, will her feelings for Zac die down? Or will she be torn between two guys?Well. All I can say is I WAS INVESTED in this story from the start! It kind of had Dear Ava vibes and I love that book.Aveena has always felt rejected, overlooked, unimportant, even before her father died but more so since. So when Xavier rejects her and flaunts Brie in her face you can’t help but feel Aveena’s pain. But then Xavier isn’t the bad guy! He’s stuck between a rock and a hard place and unfortunately Aveena is the one who suffers the most for it.Brie is vile and I wish we’d seen her get more of a comeuppance. Same goes for Axel. But Logan needs to go to prison! For real! And Xavier’s mum! Ugh what a manipulative, horrible woman! Some truly (intentionally) awful characters in this book! I was so glad that Dia redeemed herself really quickly. I would have hated for her to be THAT girl.Even though a lot of the plot was predictable, the writing was so enjoyable that I was fully sucked into it all. I have to take off half a star though because there was a small handful of grammatical errors and, me being me, I just can’t overlook them.Looks like I’ve found another great author to read!

lies, secrets, letters and truths
Where do I even start with this review?! I will either really love a bully romance or totally hate it, depending on how it’s done. This one was perfection! I am a total sucker for Anonymous letters, romance letters and anything with writing to one another before you meet and this was *chefs kiss*- cause not only did it have this between the two leads but they had in-fact met before, went to the same school and were once close. (One still crushing on the other of course)I couldn’t put it down.. just loved! Our two leads are Aveena and Xavier (by the way how do authors always think of the best names and/or cute nicknames- just how?!) they have known each other for many years, having play dates when they were younger but as we all know that doesn’t always last.Aveena is beautiful, crazy smart, sassy in her own right and too kind for her own good. She has a complicated life for an 18 year old, feeling like Cinderella in her own house at times. I could relate a lot with her in many of her thoughts and I loved her personality! One angry hate letter, an evacuation and a lost letter later and she has secured herself an arrogant, frustrating and argumentative pen pal! At first she is enraged that someone had the balls to not only reply to a letter than wasn’t meant to be seen but to correct her spelling and give her a few unwanted facts. As time goes by she can’t get enough, looks forward to receiving them.. will it have a happy ending? Secrets shared with a stranger can’t be too dangerous can it?Xavier he carries burdens he shouldn’t, he keeps secrets that aren’t is and doesn’t know what to do with. He wants to keep his family together but he is slowly losing himself in the process. He wasn’t necessarily a badboy but he sure starts making choices like one.He is handsome, charming, troubled, his sense of humour and sarcasm-perfect! I couldn’t help but love him.Yes I shouted at him, I was angry with him many times but i could kinda see things from his pov. Too much weight on his shoulders. His parents- don’t even get me started SELFISHNESSES at it’s finest! There are twists and turns, it’s not an easy easy read. It’s hooking, intriguing and totally a lot more than I expected.Highly recommend

hooked
Great read from beginning to end. Had me hooked from the start and I read it in three days. I've been struggling to find a book to keep my interest and this did just that. Great characters and great story line that had me laughing and rooting for the couple. Definitely recommend and I will be keeping my eye out for more from the author.

ARC Review
Well, what can I say about this book...? Honestly, not much. It has left me completely and utterly speechless. I love Eliah's writing so I just knew I had to read this book. And it's safe to say that I definitely don't regret it. It's a shame that the book is only a standalone because I definitely want to see more of Zac and Love at some point. But I definitely can't wait to read any other books that she releases!
