THANK You for the Innovation, Aspen!
In front of the boring "same old same old" spectrum of available window fans, Aspen thought about what we really need and delivers true innovation with this model: a window fan that is *super quiet, *voice- or app-controllable, and easy to clean.Noise is a widely underrated stress factor. Given that window fans operate continuously where people sleep and/or work, minimum noise emission is my number-one criterion for selecting a window fan. On the lowest fan speed, the Aspen window fan is significantly more quiet than any other fan I have seen and *heard,* including e.g. the "Bionaire Window Fan with Twin 8.5-Inch Reversible Airflow Blades and Remote Control."Of course, noise emission needs to be considered related to air throughput. Naturally, moving more air per second will generate more noise. Port of the problem is that several older models of window fans I have been using do not allow a low enough fan speed to reduce the noise to an acceptable level for sleeping or working. Often times, I do not actually need the high airflow they consider a minimum, but would rather have less noise.A sad case of "gone to the dogs" is the "Bionaire Window Fan with Twin 8.5-Inch Reversible Airflow Blades and Remote Control," which often turns up when you do a web search for quiet window fans. I have purchased that fan three times. The older models were indeed nicely quiet, but the newer ones suffer from an intolerably increased noise level -- no way to sleep or work with that noise.Another great advance is the ability of voice control or control. When it comes to sleeping, a remote control is nice, but you still have to find it. For deep sleepers it may be easier to just mumble "Alexa, window fan off" when you already feel your tonsils swelling in the cold air. Control by app also has its merits, e.g. if you happen to be downstairs when the thunderstorm sets in.With the laudable exception of this fan by Aspen, the spectrum of window fan models we are presented suffers from lack of innovation. It needed Aspen to find out that we want our fans to be quiet, easy to operate in the dark, and easy to clean. Hallelujah! And the price? Who cares! What's $50 more compared to sleeping and working in nerve-wrecking noise for the next 10 years? (And breathing in the new forms of life that have evovlved in some non-cleanable cheapo window fan...)That said, there is still one step of innovation I am waiting for: Removable lids for the fan openings that I can put on when we are under a short cold spell in spring or fall. That would save me from having to remove the fan from the window entirely each time. Aspen, are you listening?

It's a great fan with one problem
I love this fan but for some reason the right hand fan when in cool mode does not want to turn properly. It worked fine for quite some time then all the sudden it started acting up. I have lubricated it and it just does not want to spin as fast as the left fan does. I believe this has a 5-year warranty but I don't see any way to contact the manufacturer.

heavy but sturdy and reliable! I edited review after several months.
appears to be good fan, was much thicker than I thought, it creates a problem w/keeping my screen over the unit from outside. Did not care about Smart, will not use wifi w/a cell phone. A bit louder than my current fan on high. I use this for exhaust only in a smoking home, am looking forward to cleaning fan every 2 months w/ease. Will update as I have opportunity to use for awhile. Hope it holds up better than most products these days. Solid construction, but am concerned about operation during snow and rain. It's now been several months and the fan is highly reliable, just hope the right sided motor lasts longer than a year as this is usually what fails in all dual fans. Use for the most part 7/24 all the time w/exception of extremely windy and freezing days. I did take the fans apart for cleaning and was very impressed w/this new and unique way to clean fan blades. I use exhaust full time, and I have two cats, so keeping the blades clean is very important to me and should help keep the product free of any defaults.

Temperature control stinks, WiFi is difficult, tech support terrible.
The first unit arrived and was DOA - Amazon was great and shipped a 2nd unit that came a few days later. My first impression was WOW... easy to clean, seemed lightweight, and moved a lot of air. I thought I found an amazing fan until I started to use it.The first problem - is temperature control. This has two issues. The first is that when you get under 68 degrees, it only works in 2-degree increments. While you can set it for anything (65, 66, 67, 68), it will only register the current temperature at 68, 66, 64. While that wasn't a showstopper, the real problem was setting the "on"/"off" of the temperature feature too close, which became the first major stopper. IE: I like my room at 68 degrees. The fan cools down to 68, then turns off; once it reaches 69, it turns back on; once it again reaches 68, it turns off. This meant, all night long, the fan turned on and off every 15-20 seconds (most thermostats work in 2 degrees to prevent this: i.e., the fan turns off at 67 and turns back on again at 69 - thus only turning on and off every few minutes, not seconds). That led me to think there could be a firmware update to correct this oversight with the app. I tried to get this fan to connect to the app and my Wi-Fi for days. I even bought a new access point and left it in the factory settings in the same room. The fan would not connect (it would see the Wi-Fi on the 2.4 GHz but would timeout trying to connect to it). Nothing.During this time frame, I discovered that if you turn the fan off using the power button, it loses its "temperature set" programming, and you must reset it each time. It's annoying, as the buttons on the front of the fan are NOT intuitive. You have to cycle through settings, then use the up/down buttons to set that setting (simple fix—there should be more buttons on the fan, as many other models have). This finally allowed me to reach out to the manufacturer for technical support. Calling their number on the West Coast, their hours are not very inviting for us East Coast folks (and they're closed for lunch). I waited over 30 minutes and hung up. I called back and used their "call me back when I'm up in line feature."—two hours later, I received a phone call back and explained all of the above. The tech asked to hold while he researched it. After 10 minutes, the line went dead. I tried calling back, but they were closed (remember, the tech had my phone #, so he could easily have called me back, even the next day). I emailed their support department twice to explain what happened but received no response. This was the final straw - for what I want this fan for, it stinks.Mind you, it is a very quiet fan, which I liked, and the remote works well (a little confusing as the intuitive design is backward, but I could learn to forgive that). It does move air well. If you don't need the Wi-Fi or temperature setting features, this fan may be for you (although it's quite expensive).
