I don’t take the time to write reviews but will review/update now for this battery powered chicken coop door. Outstanding. Simply great. It’s worked steadily for 3 years of summer heat and winter bitter cold with temps this winter dipping 20 below zero. I wasn’t sure about spending the higher cost but let me assure you it’s been worth every penny. I did screw a board above it to shed off rain/freezing rain. The only thing I’ve done for maintenance is change the batteries just as winter begins and occasionally brush off any debris the hens have kicked into the door path. I’m so happy with it that I’ve bought one for my son and now that I’m expanding my flock with a second coop, I’m getting yet another one. I’ve never used the app. No need to. It works perfectly closing at dusk and opening at dawn throughout all 4 seasons. I don’t have to set any timers to keep readjusting for long summer days and short winter ones. Set it one time initially for dawn and dusk and I haven’t touched it again to program in 3 years. Worth every penny. I’d share a pic but it’s the same as it was in the Amazon listing. No fading, no rust, and doing its job.

I am not a fan of this newer app-enabled door. We previously purchased this for an older coop, and it had the button on the door itself which you could use to set/ control the opening and closing. This does not have it. Opening/ closing has to be done exclusively through the app. My complaint with this stems from the fact that the door only opens/ closes at my set time if my phone is within Bluetooth range. Not sure about anyone else, but I’m not always within 30 feet of my coop. The light sensor setting is also questionable and only works maybe 60% of the time. I typically have to go out to the coop to open/ close the door via the app. I have not had any luck hearing from customer service about this issue. Perhaps it is a faulty door; as I said we had the previous version and loved it! The physical quality is nice, and I like that the frame/ door are metal. Installation is easy as well. I just wish it would work as it should.

Great product. We have been using this for about 2 years on the chicken coop we built and have yet to change the batteries. It starts blinking within 20 minutes of when it is going to open or close. It goes based on sunrise and sunset. Even in negative degree temperatures last winter we only had one single day we had to manually open it because it frozen. Very pleased with this door.

Batteries: The door comes with batteries, but they went dead within two weeks, so my recommendation would be to just replace the batteries with two fresh AA’s right when you get it. Setup: Super easy and simple. Watch the video on the website, it’s helpful. Size: It seems kind of small at first, but my biggest Brahma hen was the first one to figure out the automatic door and she fits through it just fine. So I’d say the size is just fine. Door button: the button to manually open/ close the door is on the underside of the mechanical housing, which sits right above the door opening. Someone commented that their chickens pressed that button with their backs while going through the door, and inadvertently closed it. This hasn’t happened to me yet, but I had the same concern as soon as I saw where the button was located. We’ll have to wait and see. Sturdiness: the metal seemed a little flimsy to me, but I tried pushing & sliding it and it did not move at all when closed. I think it would be very, very difficult for a predator to pry it open. Timer settings: this has been the hardest thing to figure out so far. The unit comes pre-programmed to open 20 minutes after sunrise and close 20 minutes after sunset. The issue I have experienced is that the sensor determines it is “sunset” when it’s completely dark outside, and closes 20 minutes after that. In the summer, which it currently is here, that’s around 9:30 or so, which means that door isn’t closing until almost 10:00 PM some nights. My chickens go to bed at dusk, so they’re roosting for almost an hour before the door closes, and that worries me a bit because I’ve seen raccoons, possums, skunks, etc. around before that time. So I used the configurator via my phone to set the closing time to earlier. Unfortunately, this means I will have to continually set the closing time throughout the year to account for the changing sunset time. So this part is a minor inconvenience, but it’s mostly based on preference. If you don’t mind the door closing when it’s pitch-dark outside, then you don’t have to mess with the programming at all. Originally I just changed the closing delay to 5 minutes instead of 20 minutes after sunset, but after seeing how dark it was when it actually closed, I decided to configure it to close at a specific time instead. Make sure you give yourself a few weeks to dial this part in, before you really need to depend on the door opening/closing when you’re not there. Overall, the door is working well, setup was a breeze, and it’s very convenient to not have to go up and open the door every morning and be there at dark to close it when they go to bed. I would highly recommend it.

This door and company is badass. Easy to install, works without fail, and is easy to program and set up. Other doors get a few shavings in the opening and don't work or re-open leaving chickens unsafe. This door is programmable so it will try to close, if it feels some resistance for any reason whether it's junk or a chicken, it will re open for around 10 seconds, then it ALWAYS closes again. Finally some guaranteed safe chickens! You can program to do sunrise and sunset according to your GPS location, a time of day for open and shut, set your open delay or close delay based on any of these times, etc. The programming is easy with their app and instructions and once set doesn't require any connection to any other devices. You can also set a "always shut" mode so no matter what it will fully close. Other doors I have tried try to shut, feel a little resistance, and open again. I had to clean and close it every night, totally defeating the purpose of an automatic door. The door is also a seriously tough metal along with the frame, and even with some mud getting stuck in the bottom over a few weeks in the winter it still shuts safe enough to prevent a weasel. I still clean out the groove, but once every few weeks instead of every day! The motor and gears seem really strong too. Customer support also got back to me super quick about an installation question. 10/10! Get this so your chickens are safe!!

I've had this coop door for almost 2 years now and its still running strong. I'ts been through all 4 seasons with temperatures over 100 and freezing temperatures below 0, wind, rain, snow, ice, leaves. It still works. It has never closed on one of my girls and hurt any of them. You do need to clean it every now and then. The sensor can get dirty and not work as well and the door sometimes doesn't close all the way because of dirt stuck in the bottom from chickens going in and out all day long. Cleaning is easy, just wash out the dirt that gets stuck in the bottom and wipe down the sensor a few times a year. I like this product enough that I'm buying another one to put on the other side of my coop. My only recommendation would be that when you attach the door to your coop be sure to have a little roof cover over it to protect from the elements. When it got below freezing here ice accumumulated on the door and it got a little stuck, but it never broke!

Stopped working after a year. Only closes halfway now. This one was replacing an older model that stopped working after 3 years. The new model doesn't have any external buttons, so you have to use Bluetooth and an app to do anything with the door. Really makes cleaning the coop a pain and adds complications for people watching your chickens when you're out of town.

Tengo a precisare che l'ho montato solamente da una settimana. L'ho controllato e ho visto che la regolazione di fabbrica con il sensore di luce va benissimo perchè le galline sono già a dormire da almeno mezz'ora quando si chiude la porta per cui non ho effettuato la regolazione oraria come dal sito. Il materiale mi sembra ottimo e durevole. Forse unico neo il prezzo un pò alto, ma se mantiene le aspettative sono soldi ben spesi perchè evita tante levatacce e la costante presenza per aprirle e chiuderle tutti i giorni. in questo modo insieme all'acquisto di un dispenser per mangime e ad un distributore di acqua conto di andar via a cuor leggero anche per brevi vacanze.

Llevo casi 4 años usándola. Los materiales son resistentes y duraderos. Las pilas duran más de un año La posibilidades de programación están muy bien combinando reloj y luz ambiente. Solo animar al fabricante a poner una versión con wifi en el mercado. Entonces le daría 6 estrellas

Bonjour, j'ai acheté cette porte et elle fonctionne très bien depuis juin (avec le même jeu de piles)... Je l'ai placée à l'entrée de l'enclos du poulailler, ce qui permet aux poules de sortir la journée et d'être protégées des prédateurs la nuit... De plus, il existe des pièces de rechange si votre porte tombe en panne... Bien mieux que chez OMLET où malheureusement, si votre porte tombe en panne (boitier de commande ou circuit imprimé défectueux ou fonctionnant mal), il faut en racheter une nouvelle... Je recommande donc cette porte RUN-CHICKEN...

An essential to every chicken owner. Very easy to install and set up. It opens and closes according to sunrise/sunset. The company, run-chicken have been amazing- even after several months they were on hand 24/7 to assist with minor technical issues which were resolved very quickly. Highly commended customer service and great product. A must buy.
