A Most Disconcerting Review
Preamble:The vast majority of my reviews revolve around literature that discusses esoteric, occult (perhaps hidden in plain sight?) “Soul reflections,” consciousness studies etc. This piece by Paul Craig Roberts is about as “contrarian” a work as one will find in my library.Over the last few years, events, data, reports, press stories collectively just didn’t reconcile with my daily observation vis-à-vis the world we live in. Nothing that I read concerning day-to-day activities had anything to do with what I was witnessing. Nothing, zero, zilch. I kept hearing about how wonderful the economic recovery was/is; yet people I know and care about that have advanced degrees in any number of disciplines could not find work. Every time I turned around, the US was dropping bombs on somebody for some nebulous, concocted idea. It seemed also, that in order to remain “free” we had to become less “free” and abrogate our rights to privacy, ownership and free speech. Clearly something ran afoul, so I started to turn to other sources for information, news and education; enter Paul Craig Roberts…..Dr. Roberts is a former assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Ronald Reagan, and holds a Ph.D. in economics; he has a resume that is far too long and accomplished to summarize here, let’s just say the man is brilliant, well read, highly respected and has a sworn duty to the truth (not ideologies, dogmas, or party-lines.) This piece: “How America Was Lost” served as a cup of hot coffee, dosed with adrenaline, and steeped in the energy drink of your choice. It is a wake-up call of the most audacious variety. The work is a compendium of articles that he has written for his website: The Institute for Political Economy; and it serves as a dissection and general examination (perhaps a post mortem?) of the current American way of life and it is not for the faint of heart! Dr. Roberts ruthlessly examines US foreign policy, economic machinations, police state activities and the deplorable way our government has treated the rest of the world with regard to mindless sanctions, spying (on ally’s and enemies alike, including US citizens) over throwing sovereign governments and the constant incessant wars started to ensure hegemony over the planet. Admittedly, this piece gets a bit repetitive and he (Dr. Roberts) will call Americans “insouciant” on numerous occasions; but it tells a most divisive, insidious tale of how a country that once exclaimed: ““Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me: I lift my lamp beside the golden door” - and turned it into a stasi-state complete with an elected king that is not accountable to anyone – not congress, not the Supreme Court and certainly not the voters.Dr. Roberts touches on many subjects:• The Wolfowitz doctrine (we are the exceptional people, the indispensable nation)• The 9/11 debacle (what we are told has nothing to do with what really happened)• Economic dislocations that serve to uphold the US dollar as reserve currency• Militarized police and the war on citizens• Vilification and absurd claims against, Putin, Russia, China, Iran and anybody else that doesn’t like to be bullied• The encircling of Russia and the “pivot east” to do the same to China• How our foreign policy is pushing us to the final world war• “False flag” attacks and whose interest they serve• How and why the main stream media spins news events and tells half-truths and whole lies about, well…..everything!And much more!Be advised that the intention of this book isn’t designed to provide deep, cutting edge analysis of the above mentioned topics, but to introduce to the reader, that upon even a cursory inspection, something is very rotten in the State of America. “How America Was Lost” is well written & annotated, lengthy, a bit dry – but make no mistake, it is a very important piece. If you are an uber nationalist “patriot” whom is of the opinion that America can do nothing wrong, ever, for any reason: avoid this book. If however, you reason that the things we’re being told just aren’t adding up, and you feel you’re being swayed, lied to and deceived; by all means read this work!As an aside, I would be remiss if I didn’t offer the readers of this review, alternative options for news and educational resources; if you are so inclined use your favorite search engine and investigate the following sites/personalities that offer some very detailed and insightful analysis of current worldly affairs:1. Dr. Jim Willie (golden jackass) excellent analysis on global/economic/financial trends2. USA Watchdog (Greg Hunter, alternative media, former CNN reporter)3. JM Mineset (Jim Sinclair/Bill Holter) excellent financial analysis, real-world experience4. KWN (King World News)5. Gerald Celente (trends forecaster)6. The Wealth Watchman (good economic, monetary commentary)5 stars, albeit begrudgingly. If it is axiomatic that God/Truth/Freedom are aspects of the same divinity, then shouldn’t our first duty be to that?

We already know what is in this book...
I'm going to do a before and after review. I buy a ton of Kindle books, so just allow this courtesy. I pretty much know what's in this book. It is a written observation like many before it. America....you have exactly the country you deserve. We are so far removed from any semblance of The Constitutional Republic. I would like to remind all of you that thousands have given their lives for what they believed was their Nation. You don't need a book to tell you what is wrong! If you have a Soul; and that is a big IF...then you already know that something is really wrong. This book and many like it are important. They provide an insight into something that all of us should be concerned about. Contained in this book and others, you can mine nuggets of truth. Is that not what we really want is the Truth? We are bombarded on a daily basis from all sides. Man, I can't begin to tell you how much disinformation flies around. In the end, you must look deep inside. No conspiracies. No religion. None of that. Look to your core and ask yourself "Is this the America that we deserve?"It appears to me that most of the "People" are just fine with how things are. It will not change until most of the "People" are no longer fine with things. Most of the people looked away in 1865 when Congress refused to seat eleven Southern States. They looked away when the Federal Reserve Act was passed. They did so again when the 16th and 17th Amendments were passed and ratified. They looked the other way when FDR gave us a New Deal and stole our gold.It seems there is a common thread here; lack of knowledge on the part of the People. Why is that? Why is it that people can't or won't accept and learn what was done? This my friends is the most important thing you will read today. Hope it all works out for America. It can get real messy soon. Learn what you can as quickly as you can. Then, help others do the same.

The Truth
Although this book is over 3 years old, there is nothing in itwhich does not apply today. And it does not appear that mostpeople have woken up to the fact that this nation no longeroperates within the constitution and is now a police state notvery much different than the Nazis of old. I am convinced thatthe situation is not salvageable. And with not much time left, the once great superpower will succumb to economic or nuclear destruction. Although Roberts focus's on the evils ofWashington, he does not go into the cozy relationship betweenPolitical Zionism and Neoconservatism. And one must understand that relationship in order to know what ultimatecalamity lies ahead. There are plenty of books out there thatdiscuss the Zionist monster. Even the bible.

'How America Was Lost' is a great compilation of Mr
Paul Craig Roberts is one of the most astute and knowledgeable writers I have read. 'How America Was Lost' is a great compilation of Mr. Roberts' many writings over the years. I am always amazed at the depth, insight and accuracy of his always well-documented writings. I plan to purchase the digital copy (eBook) version for more detailed research and quotation with attribution for my own articles. Don't miss this: One of his best books is entitled 'The Tyranny of Good intentions'. Short well-documented read that will enlighten you to what actually goes on in our court system today. Best short history of or legal system I've ever read. Must read if you care to be educated.

An impressive collection of articles from PCR.
I felt changed by reading this book. It is a collection of articles, that contains quite a bit of repetitions - as each article is written to give a casual reader a broader understanding by itself. Apart from that, the contents are of thje greatest importance for anybody wanting to get an overview of our modern political times. The author speaks very clearly and harsh against lying policies, and the suppression of truth, justice and (lack of) political meaning. Some might feel stressed by the authors forthrightness and unequivocal expressions. But they hold true, also in retrospect! Notwithstanding the light of new informations.

Rehash
I am a huge PCR follower and because I read his articles all the time and listen to his interviews as much as possible I tended not to find anything new in this book. People new to him will find it super informative. But for me, there was nothing new and much of it was just rehashed opinion and fact gathering his followers have heard him say giving interviews to Greg Hunter, Alex Jones and the like. If you are new to him though buy it, if not then proceed with caution.
