Outstanding Amcrest quality from opening the box to viewing at night
I have always been a fan of Amcrests products for the last few years, mainly for the ease of installation, solid quality enclosures and packed with features! This one sure is no different! The IP8M-2496EW-28MM V2 displays a really clear image, even at night with a low lit garden where this is to be installed with no need to change fancy settings about to get it "right", it's great straight out the box, plug and play! The installation was a breeze (when I had the right tools) there is no power adapter included in the box so you either need a 12v 2amp power adapter for a POE injector / POE capable switch (also neither included), for me though, I have plenty of POE power available around the house. Just simply set up the port in the right VLAN and plug it in. It picks up a IP from my DHCP server and your good to go.If doing an external installation and to hide the cable (making it look better) you would need a 20mm masonry bit, in order to push the power and ethernet adapter through the hole, a 6.5mm bit for the included wall plugs and screws to hold it up.Great to see that Amcrest have supplied a stencil included in the package to make installation even easier, all you have to do is simply stick this to the wall where you want it and drill the marked out holes.Once installed and powered up, it's really easy to add in to blue iris, with the use of amcrest OMVIF it makes controlling it super simple. Before using Blue iris, I had this hooked up to my Unraid NAS using a cifs share which also works REALLY well. Since using blue iris, this camera will be used to capture and log vehicle plates coming past / near my property on top of recording motion.Initial impressions with this product is how the outstanding quality is great from start to finish, especially the ease of installing a Micro SD card now with the addition of a access hatch on the bottom of the unit, this is a GREAT addition, please keep this in new models! This is great for moments when my NAS / NVR will be offline, I can switch over to save clips to the 128GB microSD card inserted in the bottom.Pros- Amazing image quality- Super simple to install & setup- looks very robust (time will tell)- Auto adoption to POE- Installation stencil included making it easier to fit and install- Easy reset and MicroSD card hatch for easier installationCONS- no power supply included- paid cloud storage subscription- very sensitive motion detect- Long cable which is quite hard to hide, would be a great option to have it on the back somewhere- Amcrest cloud is pricey for multiple installations. with it being per camera, it makes my installation of blue iris pay for self really fast.- not able to save video files / footage to multiple locations at the same time, it's either NAS / SD card / FTP.

Not bad, not bad at all
“So, I managed to set my camera up straight out of the box in about 5 minutes. When I opened the box, I was impressed with the build quality and the way it had been neatly packaged, something which I had come to expect from my previous camera from Nest. This however wasn’t a Google Nest camera, and I must say I am extremely impressed with both the camera quality in 4K and also the functionality of the accompanying app.I would definitely recommend this camera, absolute bargain for the price. “

Needs to be restarted every day or so
OK, so I probably have a duff one, as other reviews are very favourable. The picture is good, night vision is good, the app is good too, but every day or so I can't get a picture in the app or from the URL and I have to restart it (pull the plug for a few seconds). As it's already installed, I can't be bothered to remove, repackage and send it back, so what I've done is plugged it into a timer, that I had lying around, so that it cuts the power for 1 min every day.At least I don't have to manually restart it any more.I will still consider buying more Amcrest cameras as I'm sure I was unlucky.

Good value product, easy to use, lots of features
I found this camera to be a fantastic value for money when considering its ease of use, fantastic picture quality, well-built hardware, and range of excellent features. Internet and local streaming of the video, as well as recording and still images, is easy to setup via the Amcrest apps, or a web browser. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great network security camera.

Good wide camera
First impressions are that the unit is very well built, family members also commented on how good the picture quality is. Web interface is nice and simple to use and there were no problems integrating the camera into my existing CCTV system. The lens is also very wide which is what I wanted.Thinks I would like to see is a built in microphone so I can hear what is going on outside. A also found the flexibility of positioning the camera once the camera was fixed into position quite difficult but I was able to get a good picture.Overall a good camera as to be expected from Amcrest.

Great camera at a great price
Added as an extra camera to my existing POE cctv camera setup by wiring straight into POE switch and works great, picture really good, easy to setup and no issues at all.

Great Camera, setup process needs work.
The IP8M-2496EW-V2 provides a fantastic picture at 4K resolution, with the usual Amcrest build quality. A good, solid camera that’s rated for outdoors and the fact that it is PoE is even better! The mounting bracket sticker in the box is one of those small quality of life additions that some manufacturers don’t even consider. I really love this admittedly small feature about Amcrest stuff. The packaging is simple, no frills and well thought out.Setting up the camera was not as easy as other Amcrest products that I have received in the past however. Usually, they are relatively plug and play, however I did have issues setting this device up using the Amcrest Global app for iOS. When adding the camera, I simply could not get past an error within the app stating that the password strength was too low. As an alternative setup solution, I tried the Amcrest Chrome add-on, which was also very unresponsive and did not work when attempting to setup the device. In the end, I had to simply navigate to the cameras IP address within a browser and complete the setup that way (why is this not the default instruction?) Luckily that worked a treat, and I was able to view the camera within the app afterwards, in addition to being able to add/view/control the device within my ZoneMinder server.Overall, setup issues aside, the camera is fantastic once it’s been installed. I will be looking to purchase a secondary camera for the other side of the new house once we have moved into it this summer.
