Level 2 will detect whether you are tracing right over the dots and make you start over if you don't trace correctly. That does get frustrating if they are not good at it yet, so level 1 allows new learners to "do their best" without making them constantly start over if the pen goes off the dotted line. **Q: Has anyone bought this for a left handed child?** A: My son is right handed, but I see no reason why it would work differently for a left handed child.
