Pottsville in the Twentieth Century

Great book. Told about the rich culture of Pottsville. I also loved the old photos that were in this book. If you love turn of the century lifestyle, this is the book for you.

I bought this book for my Father’s 79th birthday. The moment I gave it to him, I sat down next to him as he paged through every single page. He loved pointing out the various experiences he had at many of the places and with some of the people featured in the photos. I can’t think of any present I’ve ever given him that he enjoyed more! My husband and I moved across the country to Eugene, Oregon. I bought him the book on the city thinking he might like exploring it’s history. He did! Next, I bought my father-in-law the book from where his grandparents settled when they arrived in the US from Lithuania. He really liked it and then he shared it with his sisters and brothers. These books make the best gifts!

Sequel to the earlier book "Pottsville" is filled with pictures of the early days and very enjoyable. If you grew up in Schuylkill County you'll enjoy both books.

Bought for my mother, now deceased, so we could share memories of her hometown. It was a wonderful resource for that and I love having it here in my home.
